Default What if... for a tv show

This may be a "way out there" idea for a thread topic

But pick a favorite TV show and come up with a 'what if' scenario and give your idea of what would happen.

Think of things like what if they hadn't killed or written off a character, an actor hadn't left the show, if they hadn't have put these 2 characters together, etc...

If Walt's ego in Breaking Bad hadn't gotten the better of him he could've gotten away with a lot more-Hank was about to pretty much close the case on Heisenberg after Gale's death, but Walt implied that "Heisenberg" was still a thing.

Or if he hadn't kept a copy dedicated to him by Gale of that book....

Also if Hector hadn't killed Gus's friend, a lot of things would've happened differently in both BCS and BB would've unfolded differently.

What if they'd left Buffy dead, and Faith had been forced to step up and step in?

She'd have been lone-wolfing it all, trying to atone, with the Scoobs openly hostile to her. More, you could have done an entire arc with the Watchers sending whoever got called when Buffy died after Faith, considering her a rogue element that had to be put down.

On The Walking Dead, what if Lori Grimes hadn't thanked Shane for saving her life and set him off to try and kill Rick.

Sure there was a good chance that he would have still snapped when Lori died later on...

...but it would have been nice if Rick and Shane could have resolved their differences after she died then raised Carl and Judith together.

I think the murky canon is that nobody got called after Buffy died at the end of season 5, because at that point she was a "spare" Slayer and not the main one. When she died for like 30 seconds at the end of season 1 Kendra got called, then Kendra got killed, then Faith got called. So Faith's death was the one that would have triggered a new Slayer. That all got scrambled after the TV show finale, of course, as seen in the comics.

There was a Faith spinoff series in development which could have been great, but it never happened because, I think, Eliza Dushku had committed to Tru Calling instead.

What if Patrick Duffy had never decided to leave Dallas 'for good' at the end of season 8 and stayed with the show? And what would that season's cliffhanger have been?

Well, we know we wouldn't have had Pam's dream season, which is great. Hated that season.

As for the cliffhanger, Katherine could've still hit Bobby with her car (aiming for Pam), but instead of killing him, he would've only gotten amnesia. He wouldn't have remembered Pam or Jenna (or anyone else). Jenna would've still been pregnant with his child (like in season 10) so Bob would feel obligated to marry her. But even with amnesia, he would still find himself strongly drawn to Pam. Meanwhile, JR would've taken over Ewing Oil with Bobby being incapacitated, making enemies left and right as usual.

Maybe not the best storylines, but it would have to be better than the season 9 dream season.

What if Rick GRimes died It Atlanta trying to get into the city and Shane ran the group.

What if Andrea had stayed in the CDC when it exploded?

What if Dale did not get killed by the Zombie on the farm

What if Merel Never got off the roof and was found by the group?

"What if" Future Trunks (and Mai, of course) stayed in the main timeline in DB Super? Certainly changes up a number of things in the ToP, and possibly beyond (manga and movies).

What if Bobby from Supernatural didn't die? Guy was more of a dad to the pair of idjits than their own father. And meeting their mom again after her coming back, plus him helping with Jack, would certainly make things go differently. Crowley, more of a wildcard that could go either way.

"What if... Clark Kent Had Trusted Lex Luthor With His Secret?" (Smallville) If Clark had trusted Lex, if they could have been a team from early on in the show, could all the heart-ache have been avoided? Would he still have walked a dark path regardless of their friendship and would they have still turned out to be enemies?

That would've been interesting (at least to me).

All that canon, however, came after S5, so I think my What If is still workable.

What If M*A*S*H had killed off Hawkeye along with Henry Blake, and Spearchucker Jones had become the BJ to Trapper John's Hawkeye? There would have been a very unique dynamic to the show, with a black surgeon, with a great sense of humor and deep humanity, befriending Trapper, but pushing back on his excesses.

Think on the ep where BJ refuses to help Hawkeye remove a commander's appendix to keep him from sending kids to fight for his own glory. Now picture that with Jones and Trapper.

Interesting. I want to picture it, but I can't because Jones was such an underdeveloped character.

Love that idea. And I think the 1970s would've accepted that scenario. Plus, I would've loved M*A*S*H without Hawkeye/Alan Alda.
