Default What is your cutoff price?

At what point do comics become so expensive that you say "I'm out!"? What is your price cap?

Depends what we're talking about. Monthly issues? Mini-series? Events/specials? Anniversary issues? etc.

Depends on what I'm buying, I try not to go near $10 so probably that or $7

Generally single issues. What would be your cutoff price for a monthly book? Or a mini?

Depends on writer, artist, story page count, page size, paper quality, frequency, and a whole lot of other things.

Generally not going higher than $6.00 for standard page count single issues.

    For me, we're there.
$5.00 for a 22 page book is MORE than enough.

    Me either.
I'd be buying a lot more if DC bothered to continue 'holding the line' at $2.99.

I don't really look at the cost of individual comics as much as the total dollar amount I'm spending weekly. My goal is an average $25/week (with some weeks over that amount and other weeks below that amount) but often go over. Looking at the last six months, there's a $20-$34/week average--which I'm ok with but am going to be a little more picky in 2022 to push that closer to my goal.

Cutting back really isn't just a concern over the cost, either; for the past several years I've been re-reading more older titles than new and would prefer to free up reading time for revisiting the comics I already have.

We're basically at my cut off point already.

I'll pay $4 for a book I'm really, really enjoying; the best stuff on the shelf (by my subjective standards) is worth that much. Anything of lesser quality, I'll just trade wait.

My pull list has been cut down a lot over the last couple years, and there's a lot of reasons for that, but price is definitely a factor.

This is kinda tricky, as I don't buy US single issues. If they are expensive in their country of origin, they become even more in mine. While this is also true for spanish editions, they are cheaper than their US edition (at least DC), so I can still buy them, though I prefer collected editions nowadays. Both Rorscharch and Batman/Catwoman, which I'm currently buying, cost like 3.3 dollars each. And that's my cutoff price actually, for single issues of 20 something pages, in a standar US comicbook format

    I feel your pain mate.
With the exchange rate & shipping I'm paying anywhere from $6 to $8 for an issue.
Then there's the specials and annuals which set me back $10-$15 each!

Those types of prices might force me to look at digital editions instead of paper copies (at least for titles I was on the fence about), and I don't normally do digital comic books.

    I don't like digital.
I've tried, but I just enjoy having the book in my hands.
