The Wanda/Pietro and Franklin retcons are all so easy to undo that they could do it in like a page if they wanted to -- just say Wanda/Franklin subconsciously reality warped them into not being mutants anymore but they always were.

Modern Marvel is so stubborn about not reversing unpopular retcons that do nothing for the fans. Wanda/Pietro, Franklin, OMD, America Chavez's origin, and so on. Back in the day if someone didn't like a retcon they just dropped it (see: Nova Roma). It's particularly annoying for Pietro who the Avengers line never seems interested in using and never uses well but has been a consistently good part of X-books when they get him since the 90s. Wanda could be used well in the X-books if they made her a mutant again but hasn't historically been.

Wanda's mother was revealed to be Natalya Maximoff in her solo series.

Yes, but the issue with Wanda wasn't with the process, it's just that she stopped being backed up. It still works on humans if they have a backup.

Maybe Natalya Maximoff was a clone of Magda like Madelyne Pryor was a clone of Jean Grey…

Franklin's retcon was quite clumsily done... I mean, Franklin made himself a mutant because he wanted to be special? The super-powerful child of the greatest heroes of Earth, whose father is the greatest human scientist ever, who has traveled the Multiverse and is admired across all of it, and who and saved the world countless times... became part of a rejected minority in order to become special...?!

BUT, I am okay with Franklin not being a mutant. It always felt weird that Reed and Sue were mutates without an X-gene, but their son Franklin was a mutant with an active X-gene... Franklin being a mutant made sense when every person born with powers was a mutant by default, but not so much nowadays, when only people with an x-gene are considered mutants.

I just wish the retcon was better done... like, some cosmic entity disguised Franklin as a mutant in order to hide him from the Celestials, or something...

They could say that when Wanda said "no more mutants" it was very unspecific...in that it completely erased the x-genes and powers of most mutants, but inexplicably, others (the 98) were completely unaffected, with Wanda, Pietro and Franklin it erased their x-genes but they kept their powers because Wanda and Pietro are blood and Franklin's powers were tied to his parent's genes being irradiated by cosmic rays and were never his real mutant powers to begin with as he started exhibiting those reality creating abilities as a toddler long before mutant powers usually manifest.

A little off topic, but does Franklin have his powers back? I haven't kept up with FF.

Natalya was also revealed to be Django’s sister, and their father was a previous Scarlet Warlock

Not yet, but I think most of us assume that like Wanda and Pietro, its a matter of when, not if.

To Slott's credit, he basically wrote an easy fix to his own retcon for the next writers to take advantage of. My impression is that he did the retcon to opt out of needing to build on or reference Krakoan narratives with his own FF run, but he doesn't particularly care what Franklin's mutant/powered status is in the long run. Basically, his last issue had Franklin and Valeria fighting members of the Reckoning (the big bads of Slott's run) in another dimension called Thought Space, where anything you can imagine becomes reality. And the kids pointed out that even though Franklin doesn't have his powers anymore in his regular dimension, his experience as a reality warper and with making his imaginings into reality meant that practically speaking, he could do anything he wanted in Thought Space.....and so a lot of people are speculating that either consciously or subconsciously, Franklin might have also used his time there to give himself back his X-gene and his previous powers.

Speaking of "fake" mutants, do they know that theres a powerful reality warper (Gwenpool) just walking around in Krakoa? If they do its weird that they shunned Franklin yet Gwen is still on Krakoa.

They would need to learn that she's a fake mutant first...

    Gwen is valid.

The Franklin retcon will eventually be undone.

I’m not sue it will. Franklin was never a core XMen character, nor is being a mutant ever really central to his character.

It would be nice if they undid the Franklin retcon now before someone retcons it back under the guise of making Franklin Namor’s kid for drama

    Exactatiously.
I would quicker want Wanda and Pietro to be mutants again (although I'm very good if they're not) than Franklin. As a mutant he added nothing to the mythos. As a super-human now he takes away nothing from the mythos.
