Yeah but is an old idea actually( I keep repeating it and will repeat it till the end of times....)
But is first time they are putting it so overt and plain. Usually they just leave tidbits here and there, leaving newsgroups discussing if it means what that means. Probably thought was good time to make use of that.

People should realise that sort fo ideas were running out in waht if / AU lines since 90's at least or even before. Mostly Earth X and that little odd thing that was "Conspirancy" who had a more deep impact on modern marvel stories than we all assumed at first time. Also Kirby Eternals as well as his 2001 movie comics( fun fact technically the Celestials are the Monolith Aliens from 2001, or so was their origin...other fun fact they leader, has a black monolith as head) had immense impact. The most interesting tidbit is how similar Kro and Apocalypse are in term of power and look( at the time there were little question if the design of poccy was derivative from how Kro was drawn at the time)

Feels like Marvel is stuck in this rut of having the X-Men fight other heroic teams. Are they gonna fight the Power Pack next?

ehh in these times big event things are the only thing boosting sales, albeit briefly, in superhero comics, and once you realize that lot of supervillains are not very interesting jobbers<just a notch beyond goons and minions) and you are left with little options in short term.
<long term would be build up these jobber villains in something more and/or create new interesting villains without burning them up too soon...both viable option doable in a reasonable amount of time>

A story that builds up villains would be much more preferable. And yes events are short term gain, but don't last. And have even not done as well as they have in the past. And X-Men vs. other heroes or heroes vs. heroes can only be done so much before people get bored of it. Plus AvX used lots of heroes as jobbers anyway.

I always felt a hero vs hero X event was going to come just based on Krakoa's status, though this doesn't really seem to be fitting from the description.

Jobbers with an already established long story as main characters with their own(small or big) fandom. Is kind of different. Is little cheating in a way. Anyone can choose their favourites and ignore the fact that some one is pigeonholed into the role of "antagonists" if not outright "villains.
But yeah even are really only short term, and often cause more long term issue, as well as in case of hero vs hero, causing unpleasant division between fandoms.
Building up villains, is best solutions, but require time.
Is old news that mainstream superhero comics have a villains problem, in that had been ages since we got soem memorable villains that readers want to see more. Hell a rarity had also become a "jobber" villain getting more fleshed out and becoming a big player.

Which only makes the rut Marvel is in that much more pronounced because it's just business as usual. They are gonna easily run out of hero teams for the X-Men to fight against. Then what?

That's the Eternals, not the Inhumans.

EDIT: Ugh - just tried to fix the thread title (Bleeding Cool swapped the X-Men and Eternals logos around on the initial graphic, causing me to call it AEX instead of AXE) and it didn't work.

I'm honestly sure they're working on it.

Age of Apocalypse, where Apocalypse comes back and takes over Arrako again, might come first though.

It would make sense when the Krakoa era finally ends and the villains go back to being villains.

I mean, it doesn't necessarily have to end with the villains going back to villains; you just have the villains escape out of Krakoa somehow for some reason, or found their own rival country.

When the rest of the mutants find out about the Quiet Council this will happen 100% and they will choose if some think it is right or not
