I'm fine with Val's age as is.

Yeah, I’m fine with the kids as they are. It’s bad enough Franklin spent most of his existence changing ages depending on the writer.

Franklin age-changing I get. I may not have liked it, but he was a normal YOUNG kid. Outside of using his power to threaten everything, he had no real character value. Six, seven, eight doesn't give you a lot of interaction except maybe with Artie and Leech. His adult self too, but that was a special and rare case. Val, OTOH, was a three year old super-genius and could converse and deal with adults.

Yeah for Franklin I think it was something long overdue, but Val was aged too much. She's lost her edge and is just another teen genius. She lost what made her interesting.

So aside from the two Ross covers we’re getting a Frank miller one but I’m hoping for some others since this is a new number 1.

Would also like to see some interiors and choice of suits this time.

Even if she was only aged up to eight, a year younger than Moon Girl, that would've still been a problem, since Lunella is also a genius. Being a kid genius isn't enough to make Val unique. She's Lunella without the dinosaur, Riri without the armour, Nadia without the Wasp technology. The only thing unique to Val now is her link to the Fantastic Four (the others are all associated with the Champions instead).

What would you think about her getting some actual powers?

Ah the 90's! Bomber jackets and pouches galore. And Sue's worst—

we don't talk about that monstrosity.

Going from Dan Slott to Ryan North. MY heart goes out to all FF fans in this trying time. Hopefully you get a decent writer next time.
    Wanna make somethin' of it?

I don't think the age up means losing her edge (she's as sassy as ever), that all depends on the writing.

This version posted above is toned done from the one in the DeFalco/Ryan Fantastic Four. They made her look trashy IMO. I like this variant cover for issue #47 by Russell Dauterman

IMO this is an improvement from Slott. But your mileage may vary.
