Sad news. Former FF artist Carlos Pacheco diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as Brian Cronin writes here.

I always wanted to see more images of Sharon in her human form in her FF costume.

What's the context behind Sue shooting invisible balls from her head?

It's probably purely artistic to allow the positioning of Sue and villain in brown to show the bad guy is out of the fight and to give room to the force field balls.

It's part of Walt Simonson's cover for FF #335 where a bunch of FF villians show up but I think they weren't the orginals. It was part of the Acts of Vengeance crossovers.

Probably to show repeated strikes instead of a single one. So instead of one punch she keeps punching over and over.

Sue's powers are mental, from her mind. She doesn't strike a pose and FFs fly.

I've seen her do the multiple pellets or what have you, way back. Long before Kirby and Lee departed in fact.

I just have to say the Simonson closeup of Sue is not very flattering. Her jaw is way to square and masculine seeming.

It is a mental ability, but pointing her hands in that case might help her aim or general focus. I doubt she needs her hands if her hands are busy doing something else (in this case holding the villain down). This also doesn't seem to be a drastic situation based on the tone of the FF Acts of Vengeance covers.

    Anyway, that's my head canon.
