Al Ewing made Storm great again! Storm greatest challenge might not be a matter of destruction, but creation.

I genuinely couldn't understand why some readers were losing their shit about the Anos devastation and how the Arakkii were just cannon fodder and such nonsense. There's Arakko and Arakkii after Judgement. War-torn and beat up (as expected) yes...but alive.

    Yeah, PRETTY MUCH THIS.

The Eternals REALLY Fucked themselves here. They really underestimated the Arakkii.

Honestly, i'm not THAT tore up about it, but the Arakki will get the respect they are owed in XMR 6 anyway so YAY! Also, there's still A LOT of them left right?

I can tell you why it bothered me. Gillien came in with an event from a book i was actually enjoying and then took four issues to do no ground work for it despite knowing he was writing an event instead he focus on minial personal issues of the council which could have been done after his event. And then took that hatchet to the work books like LOX and Red were putting out without adding a single thing to anything of this era except the sinister out, and his personal pet to the council which made no sense because at the first sign of danger she was put on lock and key and couldn't be at votes anyway because she is important to resurrections, and yet he is directing the whole event. And then to top it off people want to gas light talking about "omg immortal is great" when it really isn't because it has been nothing but i don't know a prelude to council members. No mention of anything in his own book, no ground work for the franchise he knew he was coming to. i don't like stacked decks.

So let's see if Hope goes as hardcore on eternasl as she did on Selene. Cause i'm expecting foaming at the mouth, begging phoenix to come, i mean something, right?

I'm not at all enthused with Gillen either but...if some think it's awesome...who am I to say otherwise.

These books aren't written today for publication tomorrow.

Gillen and Ewing would have known long in advance just when the event would start, how long it would run for and how it would be written in their respective tie-in books.
Yes it sucks that XMR is sucked into yet another event so early on, as with SWORD and DR, but again...Ewing would not have been blindsided by these decisions and would have written his issues to suit.

Marvel's super-event every three months is garbage but at this stage the only thing I can do is not buy it (I don't)...only just the books I'm reading, regularly.

The difference this time is that Ewing actually loves Judgment Day, and I'm pretty sure he'll use crossover to advance the main story.

Pretty much. Even if he doesn't (I'm pretty sure he will) I'm not at all invested in Gillen's Eternals kick but at least XMR will still be a damn good, well-written book. In Ewing I trust.

I mean, I'm still holding a grudge over getting so invested in Baal's character in Wicked + Divine only for his character arc to 'resolve' the way it did, so that explains where I stand on 'reading all things Gillen with extreme caution and a side of side-eye.' *Shrugs*

I bailed on that W+D series half-way through. Lovely ideas but not really gripping or consistently engaging.
Same with his Immortal X-Men...interesting idea but not feeling the Sinister wankfest, at all, and then as JWat rightly says, we're yanked into this overblown and tiresome crap event about characters I don't care about for the next 3 months...fock no!

There will be at least one issue of Red every month.I think it's still acceptable.
