YIBAMBE! T’Challa: The Black Panther Appreciation 2022

Does not matter to a point-he still got a resume and previous comic book experience.

As far as I can tell sales are either decent or okay compared to what other titles this book is doing better than. I have to find that link again.

Ridley keeps the book on shelves for trades and the name going when he is doing other non comic projects.

At this point this is about keeping the Panther (T'Challa) name out there before and during that movie.

I don't understand why they don't just have a second on going, like Marvel knights series. The last one we got was pretty good and T'Challa was a badass

The thing is Ridley is an Oscar award winning screen writer and television show runner. Marvel is betting his presence on the title will bring in readers that do not normally read comics. They are hoping the same think will happen with him that happened with Coates.

A short term spike followed by readers leaving in droves?

Hickman is a incredible story architect but his plotting moves like a snail's crawl. Also he does not writer action scenes well. They are really lacking.

And his characterization is so thin, it'll give you paper cuts.

Coates just went to the absolute worst stereotypes about African countries there. Wakanda is supposed to be flawed sure but people like Wakanda in part because it doesn't fall into some of the typical stereotypes about Africa. Its existing social problems was already perfect to show that Wakanda is a flawed country like any other.

And colluding with white dictators is an extreme exaggeration of the hero willing to take dubious methods. Sure T'Challa can go far in saving the day but the guy still has his standards. You'd never see Black Bolt or Namor go this low.

It almost seems like "the Long Shadow" is going to be finished in the Sam Wilson Book?

Definitely feels like Sam's book is going to wrap up the current arc if the ending of the last issue is any indication. If a non BP book wraps up Ridley's arc that's just terrible writing. Should be at least 12 issues and never strayed from the original premise of T'Challa hunting down assassins. If T'Challa jobs against Sam the only book I'm sticking with is Moon Knight until JA puts T'Challa back in the Avengers since T'Challa can't get respect in his own or other books.
