His brother and niece spoke on it.

Yeah, those are the only two I knew of (the niece was more piggy backing.) So it's not like his wife has talked about how disrespectful it is nor did his brother really launch some campaign against this in his brother's name. My point is, I think using "his family" as an argument is a bit disingenuous. I'm sure Chadwick would love for the character to be played by someone else but I also don't think he'd be upset at his castmates choosing to honor him thos way, either. Which is something I'm sure his family is also aware of. If they truly had an issue, they'd make more of a stink about it.
What do they expect to be done at this point? That Disney will stop the film release, recast T'Challa and reshoot the entire movie from scratch?
And if the aim is to have a recast...I'm almost 90% sure that the executives and writers involved would have already discussed plans for recasting BP at some point going forward for the third (next) movie. Recasting either T'Challa or another male BP is inevitable.
Lord Ewing *Praise His name! Uplift Him in song!* Your divine works will be remembered and glorified in worship for all eternity. Amen!
What's interesting to me is wondering where the MCU will be 5h10 years from now. Let's say for arguments sake that they maintain their momentum,. They're already introducing the Next Gen characters like America, RiRi and Patriot. Once those characters become the "Old Guard," who do they pivot to? Is Marvel going to have to create new legacies, do they repurpose old characters as new entries or rehash the old faves (i.e. teen Tony, T'challa Jr, etc?)
Winston Duke was on Jemele Hills show and was asked about whether T’Challa should be recast or not. He said that this iteration of the character belongs to Chadwick but at the end he says that we should have trust in comic book franchises because there’s various different timelines and universes that are being experimented with. Between this and Feiges “too soon” comment I think we might see a variant of T’Challa in the future. Hopefully by secret wars.
