Apart from Bastille Day also known as The Take, None of those movies has his name above the title and my god Sonic 2 just illustrate how far his career has fallen along with James Marsden and Jim Carrey being involved in generic mind numbing toddler entertainment.

Hell, you could even make a case for him being co-lead in SONIC 2...
There's also The Losers. Obsessed is more a psychological thriller.

No Sonic slander in here fam. That’s one franchise that’s keeping me happy while my other favorite characters (BP and Superman) are going through a dark age on film right now. Lmao.

Dunno about "above the title" but they are action-adventure movies, and he was the lead or co-lead in each of them. Just because they aren't all that GOOD doesn't change that. And, of course, he starred in Luther for 9 years, and each of those 20 episodes was about an hour long (literally, not the 44 minutes plus commercials we get in the US). And they are filming a movie with the character.

Bottom line, he can do action-adventure as a headliner.

I’d actually be interested in T’Challa becoming an avatar to another god for an arc. You’d think that with his skills and accomplishments there’d be several deities angling to bring him into their corner. Maybe he infiltrates the cult of the Lion God or is sent on a mission by Sobek to deal with some threat attacking the border of his realm.

For all the talk about godhood in Wakanda as of late, the last few years did an extremely poor job showing T’Challa reckon with his own faith as a person. Outside Bast finger wagging at him and deflecting responsibility for being a slave owner they didn’t really explore what religion means to him and how that informs his decision-making. As a warrior-shaman that’s a pretty glaring omission of his character and outside Priest and Gillis no one really played into that. Hickman dipped into it as well and I’m really starting to think he might be a top 5 BP writer. He truly understands the multifaceted nature of T’Challa.
For all of Coates novel prose background, his run was about as superficial as you can get.

It is just a different type of superficial compared to like... saturday morning cartoon Hudlin run.

Lots of ideas thrown out... none developed. None taken to any sort of logical conclusion. A bunch of vague ideas thrown together and then "shrug" and moved on.

Top 5... if he isn't, Hickman is close. If he actually let T'challa kill Namor, he'd be top 3. IF we are talking about JUST how they wrote T'challa, I'd probably put Ewing ahead of him honestly just barely. Aaron is trickier because his high is nuts (SWaD) but his avengers run was fine but unspectacular (there is nothing really memorable there) and that xmen ****, even if one page, is rough lol.

Hickman would 100% kill a BP solo though and he'd make Wakanda better than its been in a long time. Too bad that ship as sailed.

(id probably go Priest, Liss ,Gillis, Ewing, Hickman, Aaron atm personally. Not counting redjack because it was a one shot)

Elba is a working actor not a headliner. We can at least agree that his promising career so far hasn't produced a solid filmography. To me Luther is one of the shinning roles in his body of work. (I'm rereading what I wrote and I sound so condescending to poor Idris)

My List would be Priest, Redjack (yes he did a one shot, but his culmination of all the different Media he has done for T'Challa, from the serial box, to BP quest, the Lexus comic, one shot etc. I feel gives him a spot) Gillis, Hudlin, Ewing, Hickmans/JA.

To be honest I think Redjack is literally the next Priest for T'Challa if he ever got to write him, and it's frustrating seeing how much further T'Challa could go but is being hamstrung

Sometimes they're telling you more than you realize at the time.

Interviewer: What is it like adding Black Panther FULLY into the mix?

Feige: Its a dream come true to bring Wakanda to the big screen. We finally brought all these characters to life.

This guy Feige man. Does he really not get it? I hope he does this with other characters and not just TChalla.

I mean, when you look at what they are doing now, yeah it seems pretty damning. They ask specifically about black panther and he answers about Wakanda, okay, easy enough to ignore, he is excited that T'Challas world is being opened.

Then they ask what was it like going on set. He answers about the throne room, T'Challas throne room yes, but immediately mentions the Dora milaje first. Then in the final about the personal moments, no mention of T'Challa and his dad, or T'Challa in Erik, or T'Challa at all. It's Dania, lupita, and Letitia... All of Which their best moments were when interacting with T'Challa. The don't even have any personal moment's outside of that save the one after T'Challa is thrown off the waterfall between Okoye and Nakia...

Looking back at it with a new lense and what we know now, it's pretty damn clear that they were setting up to remove/ reduce his presence over his franchise, it would of been fine had Chadwick been alive still, as it would point to T'Challa realizing he can do more for the world as The Black Panther full time than having to worry about the day to day in Wakanda, but he would always be the bridge back between the two. Now? They are trying to cut the connection and drove hard that it was the REST of the cast, not T'Challa, who drove the movie and it's just not true.
