Marvel's Non-Team: The Defenders Appreciation 2022

He’s only ever done three of the Big Four (no Silver Surfer) that I’m aware of.

This reminds me of the story where they went back to the Middle Ages to physically see Black Knight, but SS and Valkyrie were there as well. It would have been great to have them added in here. They fought the Arabian foes that looked much like these guys.

Oh, yeah! Lol, I think you are correct. I was thinking of Issue #11 with the Sorcerer Chandu and the Earth Gnomes and humans who dressed very similarly.

My favorite's the Big Four (Doc, Surfer, Namor, Hulk) and the C-List Three (Nighthawk, Hellcat, Val) but man youre right there are a LOT of combos to go with!

Seems like ever since Hulk was backpedaled back into the Avengers (on occasion, thanks to the movies), the traditional Defenders have kind of languished as a concept team.

Hulk can be interesting as an Avenger, but I’ve always preferred him as a Defender.
There’s a reason he left the Avengers so quickly; they didn’t click. In my head canon the Avengers don’t really have the patience to deal w. the Hulk while the Defenders somehow do.

I realy enjoyed reading the New Defenders issues. The line up that included Beast, Andromeda, Candy and the rest of that cast.
Cant say that I have read very many issues of the other line-ups. Especially stories about the original four and the lineups until the New Defenders I'm not well read on most of the Defenders history.

Can anybody tell me who was on the Defenders team for the Avengers Defenders War? I'd appreciate it.

And What is Defeders of the Realm?

I think if done well, the story could be really interesting (with fights we never got to see) and with artwork such as that pic, it would be truly amazing!

I think it would be much better if the Third (there was a second Avengers- Defenders "War" in an Avengers Annual. IMHO, it was quite "meh" mostly due to the line-ups of the teams back then, which, especially the Defenders was quite poor) Avengers Defenders War happened with the line-up of Defenders #100, and, maybe, something like the AVengers #200 line-up.

That is surprising. I wonder if he wasn't a fan of the title? I'm mean at the height of the Bronze Age (1970s), Defenders was running on all cylinders -- and included a lot of iconic characters. The New Defenders version, IMHO, is best forgotten.
