It's not even "action", there's practically no plot going on. There was a smidgen of plot in issue 1 with Jen's living troubles/being broke/etc, but Wasp came along to squish it before it went anywhere. Otherwise, the Jack of Hearts stuff *might* go somewhere, but I'm not even sure you could describe it as "character building" so much as "statements of a bunch of facts". It's stuff which should have been going on in the background between more plot-heavy scenes.

This is extremely slow. From a realistic look at what Jenn's life would be, I am 100% positive times like this would exist. But for an opening arc of a new series, this kind of material fails to add any real weight. It's possible that events in Reckoning War over in FF are hijacking the characters from any real story, but a simple "This occurs before Reckoning War" text box should work fine.

That being said, the return of Awesome Andy counts for a lot.

Never realized that Jack of Hearts never had to "ahem" use the restroom when he was invincible.

I don't mind the slice of life style storytelling at all here, the light hearted and positive tone coupled with the character interactions makes it a fun read in its own right.

Just shows Rainbow Rowell's pace of storytelling isn't for everyone. Would have love to see just a panel or two of Jen duking it out then having a face-to-face with a client, but for now we're in set-up phase for when it should pick up later.

Plus Mal's scar is crying for a backstory, unless that was explained elsewhere.

I think the scars are from when Titania attacked Timely Plaza.

She didn't get the scar there; she had mobility problems and had to use a a wheelchair and crutches but her face was uninjured. Her appearances in Death of Wolverine and Peter Parker before returning to She-Hulk were scar-free as well.

Marvel just can't seem to hire a writer who knows how to make a series interesting. They should hire Frank Miller or Alan Moore to write The She-Hulk series.

It's plenty interesting to me, seeing her navigate her life is fun and the character moments like the call to Ben Grimm last issue were fantastic.

You're right, when I saw her with the scars I just assumed they were a reference to her injuries with out looking back.

I like the down time...I think more comics need to show the characters day to day and at work....they need to pay the bills somehow. But I do think they could have given it a little more depth.

So far, the solo has been OK in itself. But, after the initial rush of getting "our" Jen back, this series has already come to a juddering halt. I just think, on the back of everything Aaron put the character through, it would have been nice if Jen's first solo outing in more than five years actually felt like it was about She-Hulk.

As opposed to just her just being Jack's potential love interest. Cos that's really not what I waited five year for.
