Technically, her costume is her world's version of the Venom symbiote that she makes look like her regular costume instead of going all "Gwenom" all the time, so the mask disintegrating (or more likely, retracting) isn't so out of the ordinary for her.

Something tells me this is the result of Gwen leaving her home dimension in the hands of the evil Johnny and Susan Storm. I wonder what these two have caused in this reality. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the last page have statues of Asgardian character (mainly Odin and Loki).

Spider-Gwen: Gwenverse #1’s true strength is the promise for Gwen Stacy to grow up a little bit and development by the end of this story arc. The creative team sets up a huge multiverse story, but Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider fans are going to be excited knowing their favorite hero may come out of this a little bit differently.

How much more growing up does she need to do? She went to prison! She's an ex-con in her early 20's!

I guess she hasn't really found a career that isn't a fledgling band. Or developed any long-term relationships (if she's even interested in that which it seems like she isn't). She's a marginally better Superhero than she was during her original solo run.

I think I probably just embarrassed someone in the Barbara Gordon Appreciation Thread. They'd posted a pic that was meant to be the Stephanie Brown Batgirl... but it was actually Gwen's Nightbird identity from Heroes Reborn!
