Given subsequent developments revealing that Batman and Cyborg were also filmed in the scene but WB made Gunn edit them out in post, I'm not so sure about that now. Originally Posted by Vordan

We know Batfleck and Cyborg are both going bye-bye after Flash reboots things, so it makes sense that WB wouldn't want them here. But they allowed Superman to stay. Makes me think that they don't plan on erasing Superman from history, even if it's not Cavill in the role.

. I’m just so tired of the “is Cavill in or out?” push and pull where every month we get conflicting signals. Put out a statement or press release or “leak” that clarifies whether or not he’s still in talks to return and what those are.
