Kara Zor-El/Supergirl Appreciation 2022

Definitely not “Black Mary”, Countdown to Final Crisis is widely hated and rightly so. But Loeb’s reintroduction of Kara into the DCU was extremely popular, and that Superman/Batman: Apokolips movie is regarded as one of the best DC animated movies. Kara starting off as a servant of Darkseid before being redeemed is a story people did enjoy.

I just hope it doesn't take 2-3 seasons before we see the real Supergirl.

The planet she was found on, by superman, was a Kryptonian colony. I remember that much. I have to rewatch the show to see if she is related to him

Yeah, I'm not sure what the genealogy was in the show. I don't think it's clarified past "cousin"... seemingly not a close relative though.

Wouldn’t worry, they resolved the LoSH tease from S3 in S4, they’ll resolve the Kara tease in S5. I don’t see that getting stretched out beyond one season. Anyone’s guess on if Kara would actually be relevant beyond S5, or if she’d go join Jaime in the background cameo section of the cast once S5 wrapped.

Here's hoping they age her up further. She should be the Supergirl of Dick and Babs generation.

Yes, Superwoman is a vacant mantle, since the Rebirth one Lana Lang was depowered after Superman Reborn invalidated her origin (which was that she absorbed some of New 52 Superman's power when he was killed). The only Superwoman to have appeared since is the Earth-3 one, which was changed from Lois Lane to Donna Troy (a more appropriate character considering she's Wonder Woman's counterpart) in a reboot of the Crime Syndicate.

She does look hella cool! Looks like they aged her up, which was good. Perpetual teen Kara was getting to be annoying. And why is Harley on the team?

Yeah, the first issue of Woman of Tomorrow was set on her 21st birthday, so she's been aged up five years.

I thought Black Canary was his favorite character. Maybe she’s his favorite Super, he’s never struck me as having much fondness for Kal or Kon despite the improvements in treatment for them. Well I hope she gets treated with due respect regardless.

Been trying to find the source for that but I can’t find anyone else sharing it. Kon protecting Lex & Lena in Lexcorp Tower from Kara sounds kino, I will definitely watch S5 if that’s true. Given the LGBT rep in the show I wonder if Weisman would make her and Lena gay and put the two together? Too bad the screenshot cut off before it could tell us who the LI would be.

If DC won't let them be explicit about Impulse dating a guy than I doubt they'd let YJ Kara date a girl either.

Ok it looks like those leaks are fake. Christopher Jones who works in DC Animation says that preliminary work on S5 for YJ hasn’t even begun yet.

I give her about half a season she turns into our Kara, if not at least in the home stretch of S5.
