Considering the writers of the series admitted they weren't very well informed about how Laura's powers work (IE that she actually heals faster than Logan, not slower, whereas Academy says the opposite) I'd take anything that book says about them with a huge grain of salt.

Pretty much. It contradicts other usages of adamantium and isn't reinforced anywhere else to my knowledge. So it seems okay to just ignore it like the entirety of Avengers: Arena and Undercover.

To be fair she wasn't a complete unkown to a larger audience thanks to Evolution, Wolverine and the X-men, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and likely a lot of word of mouth and art pieces people were showing around the internet.

Though Logan certainly allowed the creators of Rick and Morty to make the reference knowing a much wider audience would "get it" now.
