If they give Jon a secret identity though how will he still be able to function as a 2SLGBTQIA+ icon in the DC universe though? That will definitely complicate matters and possibly reduce his profile.

He'd still be an icon to the audience. And they could still explore his expierence as queer representation with a secret id. Those exist to give characters a life outside being a superhero. So exploring Jon adjusting to his bisexuality would be perfect his secret id unless you wanna give him a romance with another superhero.

Not hardly,he will be able to have a normal relationship with a actual normal person now.if he wants to date a actual superhero then he can do thst too,but now he can do it either way now,before he only had one choice

What pipe dream?

Jon can't go public anymore, and the kid version is getting back-up strip coverage. Doesn't matter if it's set in the past. He's back, most of us would rather pretend the Bendis era never happened anyway, so this is an ideal means of allowing us to ignore it. Just as the recent mini-series Ben Reilly: Spider-Man and Spider-Man: The Lost Hunt is allowing us to ignore everything Spider-Man related after the Clone Saga.

This is reality.

Narrative wise, its fine. Art wise, kind of uncanny valley, especially the smiling.
