These animated films have pretty much been a steady decline in quality for over a decade. They bottomed out at the Timm Harley Quinn movie and have pretty much been at where Marvel's been for animation since.

Zatanna the way Paul Dini wrote her and the way she's written in JLD always felt a bit too far in each direction. There should be a balance between the goofy and the seriousness while writing Zee.

I don't really mind Constantine. I just wish Zee, and not him, was the focus for the magical side of the DC universe.

It's sad that neither James Tynion nor Ram V got to finish their own stories for JLD.

Ram V wrote the conclusion to Tynion's Upside Down Man. It felt rushed. He did it in just two issues before starting his own story with a different team. A lot of questions were left unanswered like-

What happened to Constantine's Cancer?
Why did Zatara keep his daughter in the dark about his past with Constantine?
What was the deal with the tree of wonder?

Then DC had the brilliant idea to combine JLD with JL which forced Ram to tell his story with half the pages.
And now he is forced to stop abruptly because DC wants to do Death of Justice League.

I think Conway always had a nice balance. When he wrote her several JLoA issues ended with her saving the day almost single handedly.

I think the performance is fine it's just she's stuck with Zee in JLD-mode so she doesn't get to exhibit her personality as much.
