Did anyone else notice this about her and her dad in Seven Soliders? I know his ghost popping up around her all the time is annoying and Zatanna's lack of character makes her boring and unfun to read but I never noticed this until now.
Yeah, it's sad that this was Allura's last appearance and she hasn't appeared or been mentioned since.
I didn't like Jeff when I first read it years ago, I liked him more this time around. I think it's the 70's porn star look that ruins him for me. Otherwise, I found him hilarious as a side kick/love interest. He wants to be a supportive boyfriend but he is so out of his depth when it comes to the world that Zatanna navigates with ease that it's hilarious.
Anyway, Jeff Sloan, Steve Trevor and Golden Age Larry Lance should probably create some kind of support group for Hapless Male Love Interests.
Despite needing rescues, Golden Age Steve was pretty awesome. He didn't count as "hapless" to me at all. But yeah, later versions you can definitely say that about. I really do hate to see good characters diminished that way. His silver age version was ghastly (like Lois, puling the force/trick someone into marriage thing sometimes - a rant for another time).Anyway, Jeff Sloan, Steve Trevor and Golden Age Larry Lance should probably create some kind of support group for Hapless Male Love Interests.
Preview for the Zatanna/Batman story in Urban Legends.
For when my rants on the forums just aren’t enough: https://thevindicativevordan.tumblr.com/
Yeah, Steve is probably the best out of three male love interests.
Though in his case, it probably helps that he was written in a way that he can contribute to the story and there were situations that were in his wheelhouse. Poor Jeff is so ridiculously out of his depth that he is rendered useless when it comes to the stuff Zatanna deals with.
Fingers crossed.
They better not ruin Batman and Zatanna's friendship.
Some wacky Silver Age hijinks from Superman's Girlfriends Lois Lane #132:
From Final Night #3 by Karl Kessel and Stuart Immonen.
I like how her dialogue is written here; with all the pomp and flair of a showmanship, being upbeat even during a bleak time while also trying to help and cheer up people even with the end of the world right around the corner.
I miss that Zatanna...
Oh yeah, back when The Ray was straight. Lucky .
