The Twitter audience DC panders to don't buy (or even read) comics. They can act like they own the characters, but they aren't real fans.

Yeah, we see this a lot. So much online ranting and when given a book it barely reaches 20-30k.
I don’t like the notion of “not real fans”, though. People can be fans of different iterations of these characters even though yeah some iterations are problematic. Now the off the rails headcanon/fanon stuff is a different conversation, but this asinine notion came about with propping up rebirth and bringing back post crisis Superman, who was deemed as the “real” Superman. The petty childish jabs against new52. The rebirth writers had absolutely no shame in stooping that low to basically say if you don’t like this version or status quo, you aren’t a real fan. This notion has aged like milk given Superman as a character and brand is still basically middle road and settling for the bare minimum. This is why the fandoms are divided even more because of that self entitled narrow minded way of thinking.

We should know soon his status though.

As no real fans I mean people that talk online about comics without buying or reading them. There are vocal groups that didn't get past reading random out of context panels and act like comics experts, lol.
