Yeah, in hindsight, the change of the cover from romantic to a more generic one wasn't a good sign.

People bought the book for the premise of the “Power Couple”. That was the point of the book. Turning it into whatever mess that was, was unnecessary. Should’ve just cancelled at 12 issues.

I remember a sketch of a playful cover option for I believe issue 3 of the SMWW book by Guillem March and yeah it was clear Clark admired the view.

It seems Soule left the book for "creative differences". Perhaps it was editorial wanting that type of drama between SM/WW and it would've happened with or without Tomasi. 🤔

I believe Charles told a fan at a con of the direction change. If this was editorial, the “drama” they came up with was contrived and Soule knew that. The drama/conflict he had for them was natural and building their relationship to be stronger. This, was set to screw up their relationship. But Tomasi still didn’t mind at all it seems because even with rebirth, jabs were thrown especially toward Diana.

I guessed it wasn't stuff I could've posted here past that image, lol.

The irony that regardless of whatever the status quo is/was in any regard, fans naturally gravitate to SMWW.

They are written as like a married couple arguing! Kal and Diana having goofy arguments, but with Diana’s stubbornness, she does whatever she wants anyway and is majority of the time always right.

When you change the tone of a popular book to appeal to the people who don't read it, you are making your business wrong.

It was a unique book as well because two main lead franchises melding together so seamlessly with a balance of action and romance. New possibilities, and ground to be explored. Like how as a company see the gain of new fans that actually buy the books and the concept goes beyond comics to the general audience but decide to screw it over for the embarrassing awful state now that’s basically just Twitter likes that don’t equal to sales or new fans. Math ain’t mathing there at all.
