Well, Rogue and Gambit aren't good examples, as they're both under the same editorial, usually under the same writer, and are ensemble players rather than headliners. They're actually what I want; love interests that aren't controlled by a third party.
Storm and T'Challa already fell apart once, precisely because of the stuff I've mentioned. Her writers wanted to pull her one way, his writer wanted to pull him another, and the whole thing fell apart. I'm behind on the current BP, so I dunno if they're trying to make it work again, and no idea if it's succeeding. But if it's working right now, it'll work only so long as everyone on the creative/editorial end are working together and getting along. As soon as one wants to pull Storm one way and T'Challa another, it'll collapse again just like last time. Control and authority are split between two groups, and that's not something you ever want.
And that's assuming Storm and T'Challa are together again. Like I said, I'm behind on BP.
