BatDick was pretty adamantly against Steph becoming Batgirl, and prior to Gates Dick and Cass were literally fighting one another on multiple occasions. Them not getting along was a thing. Not sure why, and it was very out of character, but it was out there.

Then again I think everybody at the time was against Steph being Batgirl in that book...

No the Detective is in reference to Dick Grayson the Hero not the cop. It's going way back to when he was still Robin. His Hudson days and today.

Dick was officially named the world's 2nd greatest detective.

He has always been a detective regardless of the costume.

Yes! I love him. I agree, he is very smart just like Batman but in his own unique way. Heck he may be at times a little smarter than Batman, but not all the time, I mean Batman is still the worlds greatest detective. But all in all I'm happy that Dick got that title, as the worlds second greatest detective.

IKR. It's sad that that aspect of Dick's character isn't as celebrated.. It's always bugged me whenever he's described as the Acrobat.

I hope Taylor and Williamson write Dick until the end of time. Hopefully the next writer continues their plot lines and we never move away from the current direction.

In fact I hope this is the only version of the character to ever be adapted in other media going forward and that when we talk to non-comic readers this is the only version they know.
