I jumped into Dark Crisis knowing absolutely nothing, but wanted to check it out since Nightwing seems to be a lead in it. My bad if this has been covered already here, but what exactly is going on lol? Is this like another COIE/Infinite Crisis/Final Crisis? Obviously the Justice League aren't dead (or won't be for long) but what happened to them before this issue, like what was the build up to this disappearance? Also I thought Deathstroke was somewhat good these days, why's he leading these villains to attack the heroes (if that's even been reveled yet)? Last one, was I supposed to know who that guy was on the last page or is that a completely new character?
Lead up is:
-JL #75 for how the JL died
-Shadow War and Deathstroke Inc. for how Deathstroke ended up where he is
-Guy at the end is Pariah, an obscure character from CoIE

Btw. I don't say that a normal Human couldn't win with a smart stratgy (or powerfull equipment).
But in straight up melee fight I don't see it.
A villain that cannot be defeated is useless. A villain like Slade has to look invincible, but in the end he has to be defeated.
I think if Dick will indeed be able to take Deathstroke down in ahand-to-hand combat, it will mostly be used to show the readers the road Dick went from being a teenager that needed his team to fight him, to being able to barely sort-of hold his own against him (in previous iterations of them fighting), to now finally being able to surpass him.
So I assume it will be about elevating Nightwing and showing the progress he made from his sidekick days to being able to take down single-handedly one of the biggest bads in the DCU.
If you want justification just say Slade's recent resurrection and getting body jacked by the Great Darkness lower his capacity. Much like other possession and brainwashing.like when Dick was Jokerized or Shiva was Grodded
On the other hand if my interpretation of Dark Crisis is correct Dick remembers all of his experience from previous continuity
He just got brain damaged multiple times in his own series so it didn't kick in until a year in lol
As for Talia, Slade simply underestimated her while she's been getting training since birth ever since she got Morrisoned so she is a great deal more skillfull compared to the 70s
