The only good thing about this issue was Dick on a motorcycle. The rest is waste of art, paper and my money.

On his time line are twitters requesting a love interest for Damian before we got Damian and Cassie as a couple.

These tweets are in a thread discussing the 1st volume. Later around the time when Dceased 2 was being teased, Taylor retweeted a tweet [from the earlier thread I mentioned]complimenting Dceased and asking/suggesting a love interest for Damian.

I saw and contributed to that DCeased twitter thread however I don't have 1st hand knowledge of the Nighgtwing suggestion

I feel like this run is running too much on fluffiness and feel good moments...which I'm fine with to some extent but it makes the run feel like it's lacking in stakes and real meat to chew down on.

Hasn’t hurt Taylor’s sales seemingly, first volume of his Nightwing run has sold out.

I totally agree with you and I think the root cause goes back to Taylor’s big breakout story being an Elseworld in Injustice. There his focus on fluff served him well because the tension came from never knowing if one of your favs who wasn’t in the main game was going to bite it. He’d make you care about the C-Listers then brutally murder them. He can’t do that in a mainline ongoing so he’s struggling to establish a sense of danger and weight to his villains.

Probably not. It's ethically questionable anyways. Now using a similar idea that you think makes a good story?

This for me is unusual where Nightwing is concerned. Even during the Ric arc I was more entertained reading the title. Sure I was pissed off with the writing and story concept of Ric but I was never this bored.
Sucks for Nightwing, but I'm kinda happy that 8 months later more people start feeling like me when I dropped this run.

That would be pretty fun .
Indeed. Certainly wouldn't be the first time, though...

The Floppy sales seem also to be extremly strong. The run seems to do much better than any other since flashpoint (and likely also even from before that).

Even if I don't really understand why.

A story has message, intentional and unintentional. When the message is bad, people can protest, and if it's unintentional, the writer becomes more aware

Over a year ago when this thread discuss what's best for Nightwing's direction, someone said they'll be happy with just Dick mowing the lawn for his neighbors (because his character is what's attractive compared to the plot)

Turns out they're not alone, and with the success of Wayne Family Adventures, boy are they not alone

I also think this is partly reactionary to Ric and it’s reception. After two years of readers poorly responding to watching Dick suffer and live with the stakes of a story, they are now going the other way.

That’s being said, when he killed a C-lister like Risk people complained. So…

The art is good and there are a lot of Nightwing fans who just want to rehash the same old Dixon stories over and over again, all the while hearing some empty words about how Dick is totally better than Batman despite not having any stories or even Rogues on the same level as what Batman has. Taylor is keeping those people well fed and let’s be real: they’re a sizable portion of the Nightwing fanbase. Attempting to actually write stories with Nightwing that lived up to the hype of being “better than Batman” would require risk and ambition, two things that can backfire. Far easier to just make Nightwing a comfort food character, a wholesome hero starring in a book with lots of fanservice but not much plot.

The tumblrfication of the Batfamily is in full swing at the moment. Fanon Tim has been canonized, the Batgirls book is just Cass and Steph in wacky adventures, and Nightwing is attempting to give the online community what they say they want from a Nightwing book. But Taylor’s problem is that WFA exists and it does what he’s trying to do much better because it’s not even trying to pretend to be anything other than officially licensed fanfic.

Lot of Batfamily titles are basically just this:

Likely as an overcorrection to the Didio era making everyone’s life hell. Pity we can’t seem to get a balance between “fluff” and misery porn.

I also think the response Taylor got from how he wrote some characters in Injustice put him in a space where he doesn't want to make any of his characters "look bad", something I found specially noticeable in Dceased given it's horror movie status, where he would still try to insist that characters were the best versions of themselves and don't make mistakes.
