Titans TV show also did that with Tim.
They are socially aware, attempting to be more inclusive but these two creative examples only highlight a lack of care and a baseline understanding [misunderstanding] of what Inclusion and diversity in media means.
They know that there's original POC characters in the franchise, in the role already but not being used anywhere who could use the spotlight but they opt to race bend Caucasian characters who have been in the spotlight for decades.
Dick is a PoC [they just made him a visibly ethnic minority] but the Tim race bend is just screams , Lack of care.
Dick and Jon side by side in Dark Crisis 2 was awesome to see.
That brought a smile to my face. Jon flying into stop the bullet and Dick making that Clarke comment.
It's always good to see DC remember that Dick Grayson was part of the OG Trinity. Superman, Batman and Robin. The World's Finest.

In the last few decades the Bat franchise has given to Dick Batman and Robin, Black Mirror, Tomasi's Nightwing, Gates of Gotham and Grayson. Titans did nothing but pull down with them.
The only way to get Titans back would be an explosive arrival like Hickman did with the X-Men.
The Bat family also gave us Dick cheating on Kory with Barbara, Devin Grayson's Tarantula plot, the Court of Owls nonsense and Ric Grayson. Even the current Nightwing book doesn't really portray him as all that more competent than what is seen in Titans.
The Titans franchise through the various shows at least kept Dick relevant as more than Bruce's sidekick. Hell, the first Titans show played a big role in cleaning up Robin's reputation with mainstream audiences after Batman & Robin.

Your buggin,
1, He was born of the bat faranchise it is his home and always will be. Batman has made dick grayson present in most media every decade since his debut. To fight against that is ludacris.
2, Teen titans was popular and entertaining but it was no more successful then anything else on cartoon network PPG, Ben 10. The titans are not a million dollar revenue earning brand the way Batman and superman are. They are a small piece of the larger DC. That animated series that ended in 2006 almost 17 years ago was there popularity peak since their 80s comics run. Its not doing anything for him today, when its outlived by its American chibi successor TTgo.
The titans may have been DCs answer to the xmen once upon a time, but the brand is no where close near as strong today. It in fact is more reliant upon Dick grayson himself.
I'm not "fighting" against anything.
Batman being a million dollar brand and it actually helping Dick are two different things. Let's not forget what Dick's reputation was like with mainstream audiences thanks to stuff like Batman and Robin.2, Teen titans was popular and entertaining but it was no more successful then anything else on cartoon network PPG, Ben 10. And yeah, TTG, much as I don't care for it is doing something for Dick by keeping him in the public eye. It's one of CN's highest rated shows for a reason.
Johns's run didn't have Dick in it and lasted 50 issues from 2003 to 2007. The rest of the volume made it up to 100, ending in 2011.
Dick's solo book regularly sells outside of the top 25, with his book being number 27 by units and 31 by dollar. I like the guy, but if he is the biggest draw of the Titans, it isn't saying much. If anything, he needs them as much as they need him, if not more.
