Barry and Bart are supposed to be near speed of light fast according to Weisman so power-wise they have the goods.

So it's probably a case of the show not wanting to do anything because of how broken speedsters are. They either make them completely incompetent like Wally in the the team episodes or just ignore them for the most part.

They really don't feel like it. Especially when they keep showing up late to stuff.

It's because they don't know how to fit them in a team setting given how OP they are.

Weisman even talked about how they had more fun planning for Wally because he was "easier" to do. Of course, outside of "Coldhearted", easier amounted to incredibly incompetent whose only real contribution in the big fight at the end of season one was Sportsmaster tossing him twenty feet into a tree.

So instead of making Barry/Bart mostly incompetent, they try to avoid the dilemma as much as they can.

What's wrong with Irey just sharing Bart's name, Impulse? Doomsday Clock also implied she'd be the new Kid Flash, and honestly, sharing Ace's name would hardly be an issue either, nobody's going to mix up a white/Asian girl with a black boy.

Makes sense that the kids behave that way with Jay, he was Wally's second mentor (after Barry) and is probably like a dad or granddad to all the other Flashes except Max (the only one who's actually older than him). Jay's in for a surprise when the mysterious Judy Garrick, first mentioned in the Stargirl Spring Break Special, shows up. Judy was mentioned again in Flashpoint Beyond, so they will be following up on that at some point.

It's better for characters to have their own names and costumes. There's no significant fan attachment to Irey as Impulse, so there's no advantage to it.
