I’m very apprehensive about a Jessica Drew movie because I’m afraid whoever writes or directs will (once again) muddle her origin and possibly make her a SM ripoff.

That thought has crossed my mind. Or worse, I fear they might just go with the Ultimate Universe origin, and just make her a female clone.

Does anyone have any Jess Spider-Woman images by Patrick Gleason?

Outside of this Werewolf by Night variant for Spider-Woman #5 I dont think he has actually drawn Jess.

Ugh. That’s what I was afraid of. That’s the only image I could find as well.

Yeah, they could be cool enemies for Jess if they weren't always jobbing to everyone. Even here they didn't even last the preview before they turned tail and ran.

Modern Marvel has a serious villain problem (imo).

THIS. But I *did* appreciate the issue where they actually had her tuck her hair while she was scaling the ceiling above guards. It was a nice and welcome touch of funny "realism".

    But, yeah, HAIR for DAYS

Was looking for something else Jess related and came across this concept art for an MCU adaptation of the classic Spider-Woman suit with touches of the motorcycle outfit that replaced it and kinda LOVE it. Not sure who the actress whose face is being used. Daisy Ridley maybe?

I can't see them giving Jessica Peter's origin, simply because they also have plans for Silk, who canonically DOES share Peter's origin.

Just ask Silk, lol. She started out with the same long hair as Jess, but in a fight with Black Cat just before Secret Wars, she was grabbed by the hair and dangled over a rooftop. She hacked her own hair into a bob in order to escape. She's since grown it back a bit, but it's not as long as it was originally.

Kamala Khan found out quickly about how long hair gets in the way too, having originally shapeshifted to look like Carol as Ms. Marvel. She said the wind blows it in her face. Though I do think that (which is in her first issue) was written with her original concept art in mind, which showed her with shorter hair than she's usually been shown with in her actual comics (the art shows her bobbed and actually says "Short hair?" on it, so giving her longer locks must've been a pretty late decision). Maybe the fact she usually has bangs solves the hair blowing in the face issue?

I like Jessica's origin being different from Parker's. It's bad enough that Silk, Spider-Gwen, and Miles are in the mix since their got their powers from the same Spider that bit Parker. I felt that Silk should not had been created. Miles and Spider-Gwen belong in their own universe. The only Spiders who I see working well with Jessica(not counting Anya and Natasha) are Peter Parker, Kaine Parker, and Julia Carpenter...

Why are Miles and Spider-Gwen doing in Marvel-616? Too many Spiders is overkill..

Split the difference and go back to one of Jessica Drew's earliest origin concepts: She IS a spider - in fact THE spider that bit Peter etc and gave them powers - "evolved" in a woman. Trippy! SPIDER-WOMAN: THE STRANGEST HERO OF ALL.

Would have been interesting. Like that version of White Tiger who turned out to be an actual evolved white tiger. That said, I'm looking forward to the Anti-Arach-Nine, whenever that comes.
