A lot of writers at DC Comics are White. If you don't know this, many White writers are really scared of writing Black characters or feel they can't discuss Black issues because they are White. That could be a reason. Another reason it's because superheroes work better downtown with skyscrapers and stuff. Residential areas don't hit the same, unless it's like New York. Speaking of New York. DC Comics was founded in New York, way back in the 1930s and 1940s. So, if we take that into consideration, it makes sense why superheroes generally are found in those type of settings.
I wouldn't mind if Jace was the DCEU Batman going forward. Reeves and Pattinson are probably doing young Bruce for a while. I wouldn't want two competing takes on Bruce while we got the legacies.
Dick is the safe choice while Jace is the fun choice to me.
I don't mind skipping ahead to his time in NY and starting there.

How many super villains are in those communities?
That right there is issue ONE.
Since we got majority white writers many are not going to think outside the box.
This is where you need diverse (and not just in skin color) voices in the war room.
I work in the school system there is stuff I know that a writer wouldn't.
I got kids who have NOT been past their street corner all their lives.
They know nothing except that street corner.
How many villains could use that to their advantage?
Is it that hard for say Brainiac to get the smartest black boy in the hood and turn him into a killing machine?
How many recruits could Sinestro get from a community of color?
I couldn't see them making DCEU Batman into Dick, because there's too much history there with Nightwing. BUT I don't see them doing Jace anytime soon. Like, if he persists as Batman, which he most likely will, for the next few phases of DC's time building out their movie universe and they're able to give Bruce Wayne a full character arc, then yeah.
But Bruce Wayne is the only way I see James Gunn going for the foreseeable future.
Know why? BECAUSE HE'S BATMAN.
https://www.cbr.com/lazarus-planet-d...uary-solicits/Jace Fox is on the most urgent mission of his tenure as Batman: to save the life of his mother. At war with the domestic terror group called the Moral Authority, Jace fights a relentless battle alongside his sister Tiffany and a new hero who bridges DC’s past, present, and future as I Am Batman comes to a spectacular and emotional close.
Looks like I Am Batman is wrapping up with #18. Solicit makes it sound like there could be more planned down the line though.
I had thought it would run until issue 25, guess I was wrong. Maybe he’ll get a mini like Jon is getting, or he’ll be part of Dick’s new Titans team. If not then I kinda think he’s doomed to be frank.
