Given that Lyric Ross is a girl I think it is more likely that she is playing Natalie than Xavier.

Would make sense. Would she be living Natalie, or the A.I. N.A.T.A.L.I.E. that helps Riri pilot her current Ironheart armor, or both?

Logically it should be both - the living version would only be seen in flashbacks if they keep the comics backstory.

That's why the best friend thing mentioned in the article made me think of Xavier first, as he's her best (and heck, only non-superhero) friend in the present day.
