Wild pull, but I'm not opposed to it. It doesn't even negate the possibility of the loose events of the comics or the show happening in the future. Nico would presumably be 15 years old like many American highschool freshman, and any revelations about her parentage wouldn't be until she was sixteen. It also isn't unusual for a rich high school student to go away for school. I cannot say for true if this will be accurate to the comics or show Nico, but with everything we know thus far it is certainly plausible.

As for the supposed incongruities with the MCU, the Marvel Universe has enough plot coupons to remedy just about all of them. Nerds are just impatient.

I like it. It's a weird and bold pairing of characters that nobody would expect. It'll be good for Nico's exposure.

Yeah, I'm excited and optimistic. Wouldn't have bet on it in a thousand years, but with Midnight Suns and Spider-Man: Freshman Year it looks like 2023 will be the year of Minoru. Twentieth anniversary of the character!

I do sincerely hope that they don't complete re-write the character. Keep the magic stuff ambiguous or indirect to allow for a loose approximation of Runaways to occur when she's sixteen. We don't need to see the other Runaways, but a reference or two might be nice. Let Chase bully Peter Parker, that'd be fun.

I'll probably buy the Nico action figure.

They got Charlie Cox back to voice Daredevil in Freshman Year so it seems a good chance they may get Lyrica Okano back for it too, especially since she already came back for the Midnight Suns game.

I think there are good odds. Marvel likes reusing actors in one medium for another when they can. Schedules and payment can be an issue, but a gig is a gig.

Well it's not like it's the first time. The actress who was supposed to be Squirrel Girl in that live action New Warriors show that wasn't picked up, still ended up reprising the role twice - in the Marvel Rising cartoon and a Squirrel Girl podcast.

I think there were some cast replacements in What If though.

"Peter and Nico are childhood friends" is like such a random decision but I'm more surprised at how well it actually works.

It will also inevitably create a bunch of Nico/Peter shippers, a which will be...certainly a new angle.
