Honestly, given the fact that Kate Pryde literally used to be a SHIELD agent and was part of Storm's short-lived XSE, I honestly think their current roles should've been flipped....Kurt should have been the one heading up the Marauders and their mission statement while she's the one in Legion of X.

Also it would have made sense for him to not be able to cross the gates, either for the "demon" angle (barf) or for the agreggation of bamfs thing.
But he is not linked to Emma so it wouldn't have worked. They could have had him on the boat though.
I think Pryde would have worked better in New Mutants.

They seem to be making more frequent appearances lately, they were just in LoX’s last arc too and as Demonic little hellions. I wonder if they’ll make a come back, not as Kurt’s familiars but general pests that plague inter-dimensions.
Come to think of it, there has been quite a bit of ‘alternative’ Nightcrawler’s showing up this year: The bamfs, the ‘Nightcrawler’s’ in SOS; I may even count Syzya of the smoke.
