I loved Empyre as well. It was just a fun throwback event. It reminded me of events when I first started reading comics.

This was from a major event that was supposed to come after the Crossing, right? It got cancelled because of Heroes Reborn. I can't remember what it was supposed to be called. I'd rather have had this then that Liefield garbage.

Nice splash-page of some 70's Avengers I happened to have in my Imgur account. Art-wise I think this is near peak Starlin.

Nice cover as well. Classic team in epic action.

^^^Part Two will always be my fave (XD)

But, in agreement with you about the artwork of Starlin. Truly classic (IMHO):

That Avengers Annual #7 is one of my all time favorite comics. Amazing story and art by Starlin.

Since they first appeared, have the Ruul ever been seen or mentioned again? They were set up to be the next generation of Kree by Busiek, but I never saw anyone do anything with them after that. Heck, what about the Octessense and Exemplars? I always loved the idea of Juggernaut just being one of many…

The Exemplars, the Ruul, Templar, Pagan and the Triune Understanding. Busiek introduced a lot of cool opposition to the Avengers that sadly were never really explored after he left.

There were a lot of good elements introduced in Busiek's run. I also miss the Exemplars. Beings just as powerful as Juggernaut is a cool concept. And of course, there wasn't a resolution. Remember, all of those members of the Exemplars were individuals just trapped by their totems.

The Ruul were cool as well. However, I think there was a reboot of the universe in an issue of PAD's Captain Marvel series which erased the Ruul. Again, another Busiek creation not given any love .

Simon, Vision, Iron Man and War Machine? Talk about heavy hitters.
