I've been tricking myself into thinking that was the case for years now to the point where I don't believe it until he's worn it for a year.

That mask is totally outdated for him in the modern era. Moreover, his identity is no longer secret since everyone would know his name even if he wears his mask along with his bow and arrow.

I mean, I don't see how his mask is any more outdated than a lot of hero masks at this point, and he wore it more for iconography than for a secret identity.

I don't see how purple shades or his blonde mug stand out better.

Yeah, Clint was never all that protective of his secret identity. He even says as much in the Thunderbolts, when he has dinner with reporter Gayle Rogers in his civilian guise, in a suit and tie. He doesn't have civilian family members whose secrecy he needs to protect (which backfired when he unmasked on television and then brought Bobbi's family to New York, but he had lived in superhero-24/7 mode for so long that he didn't even realize it could be an issue).
