Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch Appreciation Thread

I was just reading Uncanny X-Men 137 again and all the talk about how Jean and Phoenix were two different entities in the same body really reminded me of all the incomprehensible talk about how Wanda is somehow different from the Scarlet Witch. Wolverine says "we're not fightin' Jeannie, but Phoenix!" and I doubt the creators of Multiverse of Madness were consciously thinking about that, but let's face it, all these stories are really based on that storyline, consciously or not.

I really wish someone someday would let Wanda and Jean interact in the comics. They have so much in common, in-universe and in the way creators treat them.

Wanda reached out to Jeen when Jeen was struggling with the Phoenix. So it has happened. Writers were not able to follow up with it because Jeen went to the past. But now that Wanda has made amends with Krakoa, it could happen.

I view Wanda and Jean as very different characters. However, they have know each other for a long time and it would be nice to see them interact more often. I think if we see Wanda on Krakoa more it will happen. Cross your fingers it will happen during the Hellfire Gala.

Quesada, the EIC who ruined many good characters, including the Scarlet Witch? He left Marcel today. When Disney bought Fox, the role of Chief Creative Officer was taken from Quesada, and given to Feige.

Allegedly phase 5 is supposed to be announced soon. If this is true, we may soon learn more about Wanda’s next appearances.

I don't have ill will towards him nor Bendis. I really think they were just trying to appease sales numbers, but what I hate is what Marvel kept doing to Wanda. She could have recovered quickly. They decided to let her wither on the vine. And waiting too long to finally redeem her. They also have done too many events. I get it, they need to sell comics, but fatigue has long set in.

Me and one of my LCS owners and Friends always talk about Quesada and it is not to pleasant espically when it comes to Wanda and Mutants and the way he treated both of them. It was his continuing to make both sides suffer and to kept them either suffering in low character numbers or not using them at all to fix the problems done to them.

Even when bring them back it was slow, painful and made worst fans hate on other fans to pick sides and Quesada was always at the helm of choising it.

Mistakes are one thing to be mad at, but when you don't clean up your own mess and just keep kicking dirt on it and call it progress while pushing progress with other concepts and characters at the misforutes of others then I call foul badly.

IMO, he is one of the few people in Media I say I hope the Door Hits him on the way out and Good Riddance.

They spend an issue bonding in the Jean Grey solo series. It was really cute. I'd love to see follow up on it now that adult Jean has those memories back.

The X-Men First Class comic had cute backup stories of Wanda and Jean being friends.

One thing I'm always conscious of is Marvel is a big company. It wasn't back when but it is now. And there are a lot of voices and influence on what is done there. And it's been like that for a while. So it likely was not just Quesada or just Bendis. Quesada I do believe did legit feel like mutants needed reduced for a dumb reason. When they could have just not wrote all those mutants. I mean sure, you have millions but you don't write all of them. It's a very weird problem to have. But probably the company decided, we need big events to shake things up because the Avengers weren't selling (which was only because people weren't feeling the Austen run) and Quesada had the idea about mutants. So then they had Bendis come in and write all this to make it happen and on top of that make it so he could bring in his Avengers.

I feel like they all were on board with this, company wide and felt like this was the most interesting to go about things. It just came at a huge cost to Wanda, permanently. I'm glad that era is over. The only thing I liked about any of that era were the cosmic events.

At one point Auesada had depleted or killed every major c-woman except Emma Frost, who he turned from intelligent, classy businesswoman to fake bleach blond porn star, hooker.

Quesada hated classical heroes like Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Captain Marvel snd we got Osbourne’s Avengers and XMen.

I could go on, but it’s time to go the gym.

It was previously announced, back in December. Complete with a teaser featuring her wimple. There's one other playable character besides her yet unconfirmed.
