Here's a food for thought:
MJ will have her own mini Superior moment. We'll see her in a spirit form following around Moria Jane only watching what's going on trying to take control. Similar to what Peter did when Otto had is body

Wells seems to be ripping a lot of Slott off (makes sense, they all were brought up together during the BND days) so going the Superior route with Moira Jane makes sense, and it'd be a tribute to Superior Spider-Man's second issue which also dealt with the Peter/MJ relationship
Yeah, I can't wait to see Moira getting off on Mary Jane's memories of Peter :rolleyes. And then for Peter to trip and fall into a firefighter's lap :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes. And for Peter to forget he knows MJ better than anyone else and for him to bury his head up the rear of his tights and not notice anything is horribly off. :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes
The Superior storyline was terrible when it came to characterization - like everything Dan touched.
The Slott era needs to be buried in the past under a pile of unexploded ordinance so no one ever touches it. Of course, so should Shed and yet apparently here we go with Wells and his festival of egregious ideas.
To be fair most of Slots ideas were tossed to the wayside or used to fix other things. This is basically giving MJ her own superior moment just like Peter. I know it's wrong to use the old story but it gives MJ a perspective of what Peter went through and interested to see the results of how she is saved and recovers
Also, Peter's usually known for being in poor standing with the public, and tending to an ailing Aunt.
If the Timeless tease is coming true, and MJ becomes Spider-Man, it looks to me that they are setting her up with all of Peter's tropes.
