Hal Jordan: The Green Lantern Appreciation 2022

This is from the John Stewart thread, but I don't want to derail that thread so I reposted here:

I cannot disagree more about the idea that Hal's ideal world is him being touted as the "greatest." That was something others said about him, and that he's actually refuted at times. Aside from certain depictions that most agree were ooc, Hal isn't ego-driven. He has a compulsion to exert his will, but only for himslef. He believes in self-determinism - to him that's freedom and it's something he wishes for literally everyone - he wants everyone to be able to live their best lives. I think his ideal world is more akin to the GLC days when he was surrounded by comrades and also had a personal life in Coast City surrounded by family.

What do you all think Hal's "ideal world" might be like?

I think Hal has been consistently portrayed as having a pretty healthy ego, particularly during Johns's run. My personal preference would lean more towards Morrison's depiction, which showed Hal being so confident that he was completely at ease in any situation so he didn't need to overcompensate in the way he did under Johns's pen.

As for Hal's ideal dream world, I think Morrison (and Barr) is again the place to look. Hal would be the swashbuckling hero of a swords & sorcery world, having crazy adventures and kissing whomever was wearing lipstick at the end

Maybe he started with Macross since, y'know... jets. (although Hal has referenced Raydeen in the past - a giant robot who has a jet/bird mode)

It would be insane if we actually saw Hal flying in with a jet construct as he usually does, but then change into a robot mode and have him acknowledge that Kyle influenced him. That would warm my heart.
