Default Susan Storm-Richards: The Invisible Woman Appreciation 2022

It's the 2022 Invisible Woman Appreciation thread!

    Appreciation threads of previous years:

    2019:https://community.cbr.com/showthread...reciation-2019

    Origin

Along with the other members of the Fantastic Four Susan Storm's story begins in the pages of Fantastic Four #1 (1961).

After the fateful bombardment of cosmic rays Sue found she had the ability to turn invisible at will, her life would change forever as she took on the moniker of the Invisible Girl!

    60 Fantastic Years of History

As time progress Sue discovered more to her powers, gaining the ability to turn other things invisible as well as generate powerful force-fields that she can shape in any way she chooses.

Susan also married her fellow teammate, Mr Fantastic, and has had two children with him. Becoming one of the most well-known superhero mothers in media.

She has also at times led the Fantastic Four, been the Queen of old Atlantis, worked as a spy for SHIELD, and has done many more things over the course of her career.

Eventually, Sue believes she's outgrown the 'Girl' part of her codename and finally becomes The Invisible Woman!

    Current Invisible Woman

Sue has grown exponentially since her introduction in both confidence and power. She is now considered the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four and one of the more powerful heroes in Marvel.

She is now a more assertive and respected member of the Fantastic Four, as well as a competent leader in her own right.

I look forward to what's in store for Sue in the upcoming years and hope she continues to grow and develop.

Lets hope 2022 is a Fantastic year for the Invisible Woman!

    Recommended/Essential Reading

These are for particular runs/arcs that had Sue as the focus or has great moments for her. Which is why runs prior to Byrne's, such as Stan Lee's/Jack Kirby's run, were left out. She had great moments and some focus in those runs, but they're few and far between.

I'm really interested in what she does in Devil's Reign. Sue without her powers could lead to seeing her use her other talents like her martial arts and S.H.I.E.L.D training.

The MCU will at some point do their own Fantastic Four film. It will be likely that MCU Sue will be a scientist or something along those lines, and I wonder will that effect comic Sue?
She has an undisclosed doctorate in something and I could see Marvel reveal it to be something scientific to synergize with the films. It's not a good look having the only woman on the team the least skilled, even less than the teenager, so I can see Marvel changing that eventually.

Well, you know Marvel and synergy, although it's not as common as it used to be. I guess it depends on how they handle adapting the FF, I know a lot of the changes they made to Spider-Man weren't practical to adapt.
    I personally love it lol
She and Reed are definitely making the most of a bad situation :P.

(Not her first time in jail anyways...)

I really liked her Deadpool team-up last year and hope for some more unusual team-ups in the future:

Daredevil - the pairing of the blind hero and the invisible hero is cool to me. And what the threats he faces can be more unsettling than what Sue's used to.

Miles Morales - Miles the other prominent Marvel hero to have invisibility/camouflage. Sue could give him some tips and they could have a fun adventure.

Emma Frost - I like the catty dynamic they have. It brings out a side to Sue we don't often see. I'd have it and with them having more respect for each other. The shade would be much friendlier after.

Monica Rambeau - I think they'd make good friends and their powers compliment each other

Gambit - They pull off a heist together with all the fun tropes and scenarios, but with powers. That's my idea lol

Obviously DD would 'see' Sue, despite her invisibility but

would DD 'see' a force field? Waaay back Molecule Man said Sue's field had no true molecular structure, whatever Marvel intended that to mean. Years after that her field could breach Celestial armor, it seemed.

But would it show to him, DD.
What other heroes would have interesting effects or contradictions with Sue's powers.

Sue's power has her absorbing or unmaking other force fields, as well as making other invisible things be visible.
