Hope they aren’t making the same mistake as Green Lantern by not using the main villain in the first movie.

There were definitely a lot of mistakes, but having an angry smog cloud as the big bad and not utilizing one of DC’s greatest villains definitely hurt the movie.

I agree and disagree. Yes, having a cloud as an enemy is always dumb, second Fantastic Four made the same mistake. But I say you don't jump straight to Sinestro either. GL has other villains, use them, use them well. This just...ugh, I literally can't say a nice thing about it.

I think it was the right call to build up to Sinestro turning given they based it heavily off of Johns' run, but obviously that set up didn't get to be realized because the movie didn't do well.

A second Blue Beetle movie would probably have the budget to do the Reach justice.

In the New 52 series, Giffen co-wrote the issue that retold the scarab's origin. In that story the scarab tried to take over Lady Styx when she was a child.



If Styx is the villain, maybe she's out to get the scarab back.

I love seeing this predominantly Latino cast. Such a rarity in Hollywood.

I reeeeally hope the movie doesn’t take many cues from the last series. I don’t want to see Jaime’s scarab made into a magic artifact instead of alien. I hated how Giffen changed it back to magic. Having La Dama and Lady Styx being the same person was a reveal from the last series. Hopefully that’s the only plot point they use.

Stick with the Reach origin. It’s the one fans are familiar with from the cartoon appearances. Plus the New 52 series gave the scarab a connection to mesoamerican culture and mythology.

I would think they'd be smart enough to not write it in a way that writes the Reach out, but who knows...
