Reminds me of how her comic justified the costume as a stage outfit.

    Meanwhile the Justice League.

If you need to explain why costumes are totes okay and not silly, you don't need to be writing superhero comics. There's an inherent ridiculousness to them. Drawing the line at the costumes is really dumb.
    May we never forget:

Not especially, but having to explain Black Canary's costume in a world with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and so forth is goddamn stupid.

Still the best version of Canary. Always preferred blue tights under the fishnets which make it looks more like a uniform than her fighting in her underwear. Also, she doesn't need a emblem, but I didn't mind when she had a small canary badge pinned to her choker.

I was more distracted by the mask. It's like they took the bondage gear elements of Laurel's costume and merged them into the classic BC look .

Yeah, weird how there was never a Speedy introduced in New 52. Emiko was introduced then, but as mentioned, went straight to Red Arrow when she became a superhero in Rebirth.

As for Red Canary, the headshot of her without the wig does look like Emiko's hair. I've seen three names mentioned - Emiko, Lian Harper (who is currently Cheshire Cat, but has amnesia and doesn't know about her being Arsenal's daughter, so why would she take a Canary name?) and Sin (Dinah's ward). But unless she's had a significant age-up since her last appearance Sin is too young. She does have the closest connection to Dinah though.

Considering Ollie’s injuries before Pariah shoved them in the batteries mean his death could well be the one that sticks; Emiko abandoning an Arrow codename associated with her brother in favor of one associated with Dinah feels off

I would tend to agree and have said so before.

Then again, it is Williamson . . .

Has Williamson really written that much OOC stuff, though? That didn't have an explanation at least.

Haven't read all that much by Williamson, but what little I have read generally wasn't worth the effort (at least in terms of Batman-related stories).
