And one of the first times that I got a glimpse of the Agents of Atlas, when they were known as the Avengers of the 1950s in Avengers Forever:

Did we ever get any information on Isaac Ikeda/Protector? Wiki says he's Japanese, which fits the last name, at least, but I have no idea if he personally has powers, or just has access to a special sword like Sword Master did.

Most of Issac's background is unknown at this point. We know that he has been a dragon-hunter for some time prior to being recruited by Mike Ngyuen as the head of security for Pan. He has demonstrated greater than human strength and agility, but it is unclear if he is a superhuman himself, or if his powers come from his equipment since he wears a fancy hi-tech looking armour and both his sword and shield look to be tech-based (as opposed to magic-based, like Sword Master's sword or Black Knight's Ebony Blade, etc).

Unfortunately most of what we know about Issac is guesswork and speculation though, since he has been very tight-lipped with details about his origins. Hopefully Greg Pak will get a chance to do more with him at some point and flesh out some of those details. Maybe Issac could get a solo story in one of the MARVEL'S VOICES one-shots? Between apparently being mixed-race as well as LGBT, he could qualify for a spot in multiple of their issues.

Hi all. Just wanted to give an update:

- Well, I bit the bullet and finally read some of Jeff Parker's Agents of Atlas story:


There were some parts that confused me. I think some of the adventures in 1958 made me scratch my head. Again, Parker's writing can be confusing for me.

Still, I liked other elements, particularly the props given to Jimmy. Wow, I never realized the extent of Jimmy Woo's leadership. I mean that in all of the aspects of leadership. Yes he could lead a team, but he also commands a wealth and prestige due to his ties with Chinggis Khan. Immediately, a number of storylines came to mind. I could see him and Shang butting heads over how to lead the Agents of Atlas. Furthermore, I liked how Jimmy dealt with the Dark Reign situation. He played both Norman Osborn and Luke Cage's Avengers fairly well. Yeah, Spider-Man caught on to Jimmy's plans, but Jimmy and his agents still turned the situation to their favor.

I still am warming up to the Agents of Atlas' designs. M-11 seems too 1950s for me. Still, there is a lot of story potential with this iteration of the Agents.
