Default Thor Odinson, God of Thunder Appreciation 2022

New year, new thread for discussion and appreciation of Marvel’s one true God of Thunder, Thor Odinson.

Hopefully 2022 treats him better than the last couple of years.

Happy new year Thunderers. Looking forward to this "hammer acting up again" business to be over and done with to never be touched again.

I hope Marvel treat him better this year. He's a great hero when done right.

I had a complete run of Thor from the 60s to the present day which I finally interrupted due to how Thor has been written in the recent past.

I hope there will be an epic Thor saga for me again at some point but I'll wait until I see very strong reviews here before jumping back in.

I look forward to being pleasantly surprised!

Donny Cates's Thor run isn't that good. The first arc is good but everything after not so much. Frankly he is someone that should be on fill in work. Do a arc here or there during someone else's run. Then he could get his writing chops and actually get a grasp on the characters they write.

    This current arc is just....weird.

It's like Cates took a line from Thor Ragnarok and ran with it.

I'm also don't understand why Thor is so angry at Odin. I really don't get it. I've followed Cates work for a while now and I know that father/son relationships are a theme in most of his work (it even extended to Venom where he gave Eddie Brock a son) but the Thor/Odin thing is a little confusing.

Truly carrying the torch from Jason Aaron with the amount of father/son issues .

Aaron was hardly the first in that regard, and Cates will be far from the last

I have to believe Thor is just stuck in limbo until marvel can catch up as a whole. I think the worst thing about this book is the overall story sucks but the actual writing in the book is good i just don't see the point of the story though.

Honestly, if this arc ends with Mjolnir destroyed for the rest of this run, it will be worth it.

I just want to read a Thor story where everything isn't about the hammer.
