Exactly what ASM#1 vol 6 showed, it was so boring and mean spirited that I dropped it.
Ah yeah, I remember hearing Sera does that.Yeah this is where page of Angela against Bor is from and its not edited. All that is the actual dialogue in the book. I'm starting to see why the book got canceled, at first I thought it was a 7 issue mini-series but then I found an article announcing it was being cancelled. So Queen of Hell was intended to be an ongoing that got cancelled early. Weirdly enough from what I hear it was more of a meta-story for some reason with even fourth-wall breaking like in issue 6 it references the writer, its own comic and other comics directly within the book.
I think she did it in the Asgardian's Assassin mini too, but if so, it was tamer, she was prone to doing info dumps though, really long ones lol.
Huh, and here I was thinking "Asgardians of the Galaxy" was a typo, but it's an actual comic lol.Its rather interesting this ended in 2016 and Angela has not had any ongoing or self-titled mini-series since being relegated to team books like Asgardians of the Galaxy and Strikeforce none of which lasted much longer either. Considering the hype she got when she first arrived I guess the self-titled series was more for Anegla to just establish herself in the MU.
And I think Queen of Hel was meant to be a mini anyways, a name like this is more fitting to be one, but maybe it would be longer, or maybe she'd keep getting minis over time and Marvel saw the sales weren't worth it or somethin'.
So I did some research on this, Strikeforce#2 might be the first thing that says they what says they broke up, which's why she ended up kissing Satana, Strikeforce#8 is another issue that says Angela has an ex, but Marvel's Voices: Pride , which was published later, talks like they're still together (Or at least, it doesn't say they broke up since it says Sera is Angela's soul mate), but then Marvel's Voices: Pride vol 2 doesn't have Sera anywhere despite Angela being there... So I guess they did break up offscreen anyways lol.The fact they broke up her and Sera offscreen gives greater indication that they don't really care about her that much anymore.
Car-El is Carol herself, the retcon from Life of Captain Marvel retconned Carol's mother into a Kree, to make Carol into a half-Kree hybrid instead of having her powers being tied to Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel. Is Car-El Carol Danvers Kree sister from her new backstory reveal?
Not sure if Carol has any siblings though, her on-going has Binary as a separate being somehow, but I have no idea what's up with that, but I doubt she's a sibling, must be part of Carol's power or somethin'.
It is telling they gave her no less than 3 series. She even got a Secret Wars series same as other ongoing titles got to fill in for their series being on temporary break due to the event. They could have given it to anyone, Moon Knight didn't get one, but they felt Angela should get one. So there is clear investment in the character there. Like if you add up all the issue numbers of the Asgard's Assassin, Witch Hunter, and Queen of Hel, she has 17 issues total which makes for a decent length ongoing.
Which makes the end of her ongoings notable. Look at Sam Alexander Nova, he had a 32 issue run in 2013 plus an 11 one in 2015, but after a 7 issue 2016 run that got cancelled, his ongoings have ended. He hasn't had an ongoing since and only appears in the Champions books where he plays clear third fiddle to Kamala Khan and Miles Morales where he doesn't do much but whine about how he doesn't do much as a meta pointing out his lost prominence. Whatever's happened with Sam has fizzled out and he's no longer the star of his own books, and it looks its the same for Angela as well.
Also yeah Carol now has a sibling, a Kree half-sister on her mother's side named Lauri-El who is a Kree Accuser to lend further validity that Carol does have alien heritage.
Marvel at times clearly pushes some characters harder than others.
Carol herself is an example of this, considering the number of times her on-goings got cancelled even after the push Marvel was giving her... She's doing better now though.
And Carol's own brothers continue being useless lol. Also yeah Carol now has a sibling, a Kree half-sister on her mother's side named Lauri-El who is a Kree Accuser to lend further validity that Carol does have alien heritage.
What's up with the half sisters lately though? Carol got one, and according to the wiki she only debutted about two years ago, Reed is getting another one, anyone else I don't know about?
I know there's Angela as we were talking about, but she's old news now, I'm thinking of more recent stuff... Any chances Beta Ray Bill has a half sister now too? .
Yeah a lot characters do enter phases of relevance and entering obscurity once that passes. Thor is a pretty good example of such characters as Eric Masterson was pretty big in the 90's holding the Thor identity for a whole, and even gaining his own title afterwards in Thunderstrike which apparently outsold the main Thor ongoing. But that then got cancelled and Masterson barely appears anymore doesn't he? Though he was a member of the Asgardians of the Galaxy comic so yeah it really comes and goes.
I think its to bring in more female characters. Thor again is a pretty funny case of that as Aaron introduced the 3 granddaughters of Thor in the King Thor timeline, Captain Marvel The End introduced a daughter of Thor, and the last Exiles book designed a character who was the daughter of Thor and Storm the X-Men called Thunderstorm was originally going to be in the book before they instead went with a Tessa Thompson based Valkyrie (this is the one that came first before the current one in Mighty Valkyries).
No sons of Thor which amusingly enough Thor does have in mythology like Magni and Modi.
Thunderstrike's last appearance was in Clea's "Strange" comic where he was resurrected as a zombie, I didn't even know he was dead...
Checking out wiki here, the Masterson who shows up in Asgardians of the Galaxy is Kevin, his son, Eric himself has been long dead and apparently is only resurrected briefly before he dies again.
Funny they try to bring in more female characters, and at the same time, kill off Brunnhilde and continue sidelining Sif... Good job Marvel, wonder if they realize the irony.I think its to bring in more female characters.
Killing Brunnhilde is what baffles me the most, I know it's for Jane and MCU synergy by using Runa and that other Runa from Exiles but... She's not the only Valkyrie, unlike Thor Valkyrie is just a title, she could always stay around while Jane and Runa get to be the bigger players now lol.
Checking out the wiki here, 616 itself has those two surprisingly enough, and they showed up only in Thor#293 and #294, but they're from a previous life cycle or somethin', so I guess that means we'll never see 'em again lol.No sons of Thor which amusingly enough Thor does have in mythology like Magni and Modi.
Yeah they only really care about promoting fresh new characters instead of expanding on the old.
Like look at DC's whole thing with the Infinite Frontier/Future State stuff. They finally made a Wonder Girl ongoing and planned a Wonder Girl TV show but instead of using the long established Donna Troy or Cassandra Sandsmark, it was all for new girl Yara Flor. Then there's great Green Lantern, there's 7 human Lanterns yet they felt the need to promote ANOTHER human in Jo Mullein once again downplaying the more longstanding ones, even the incredibly popular Jessica Cruz who isn't even that old a character.
The Green Lantern case just baffles me, again 7 Lanterns all already fighting for screen time because DC can't be assed to properly manage them all yet they still wound introducing another one who will undoubtably be fighting for screen time in a few years. The Green Lanterns are effectively cannibalizing each other for screen time because DC can't stop making new characters and instead just use the ones they already have lying on the shelf.
In Jane's case its kind of a Winter Soldier situation where they are technically a new character but they've been out of play for so long that the reinvention essentially turns them into a brand new character.

So far reviews of Thor: Love and Thunder have been pretty mixed.
There's a LOT of criticism of the humor in the movie.
Color me unsurprised, the movie looks faaaaaaaaaaaaar too comedic. It's interesting how most MCU phase 4 movies haven't landed entirely, most of them have gotten mixed reviews.
