If I had carte blanche (won't happen):
Thor is worthy, Mjolnir is the weapon. No more living mjolnir. Leave the cursed weapon/hidden storm angle for other characters and creatures he encounters.
basic powers are all back, plus more stunts to be seen on a recurring basis. Birth mom is Gaea.
Don Blake is back. And not a maniac. Working with an NGO in different global settings. (I liked that initial setup in the JMS era, but that was abandoned after the first arc).
Odin is not a raving reactionary, but not santa claus, either. Frigga's more prominent.
The series can alternate between Earth based action, and other-world based action. (Asgard, other planets, dimensions).
Loki is untrustworthy. But not 100% maniacal in all contexts.

(sidebar: i dislike the trend now of pushing Loki into the "antihero" zone to the point where he now can't do anything horrible, or if he does it's more of an "oh well" thing rather than "Thor, beat his @$$!!" And considering the popularity of movie Loki as well as Loki has been retconned into having a queer connotation, then for some it's considered questionable to have him be outright "evil" since that would be considered trafficking in stereotypes.. Creatively it's painting into a corner, alas..

Introduce more villains, more mythological creatures, more sci-fi based threats.

    Probably back-to-basics (and I mean really back-to-basics).

    1) Do a story arc that delves more into what makes Thor, Thor. Follow it up immediately with…
    2) A story arc that explains Thor’s drastically fluctuating power levels over the last 35 years that revolves around a previously unknown rivalry between Frigga and Gaea (and also write the Phoenix force farce out of continuity).
    3) Feature a story involving the death of Jane.
    4) A 6 issue story arc that features Thor without his hammer.
    5) A mini featuring new adventures of the Warrior’s 3 and Thor in their youth.
    6) A brand new villain for Thor. I mean, once Thor has been re-invented, what better way to test his new self against a super powerful that tests him to his very limits.

    - I thought Jane hated Odin's guts (I guess she's there for Thor).

    - Is Ben Grimm the only FF member? Does he have a secret Odin story?

    - I see Uatu is back to popping up at stuff again. Along with Celestials.

    - Clea there because I guess the Sorcerer Supreme has to show up even though she probably doesn't know Odin.

I guess everyone who knows Thor will be there I guess.

this kinda reminds me of Dan Jurgens run where Odin died and beings like LT took notice.

when is this even taking place???

Great art, but hasn't Odin died like 30 times? "We better go to the funeral, I think this one's gonna stick."

me too, I am for sure getting this for that sweet sweet Coipel art.

Man the JMS era really spoiled us having him on interiors!

Coipel always renders Thor rather well (IMHO):
