Jane ends up in Valhalla. The cancer actually kills her, unlike in the comics. So when they say Thor Will Return, they definitely mean Odinson.

I think they were pretty clear they didn't intend to replace Thor with Jane.

I think in this movie that was certainly the case. It was Odinson's movie. The only replacement anxiety in the movie was spoilers:

Well, I don't belong to that crowd, and I thought Hemsworth's contract was over, so that's not entirely true. I'm very happy to have him continue if he's interested in the character.

Why is Odin even using Mjolnir in the first place?

His personal is the spear Gungnir. At least Cates bothered to mention it in a recent issue compared to Aaron acting like the only weapon that matters in all of Norse myth is that damn hammer.
