I'm aware of which story arc they were talking about... My point behind mentioning X-Men Red #9 is that Days of Future Present happened over thirty years ago (Real-Time) and X-Men Red #9, a mere four years I.e., Jean's feelings back then are no longer relevant to the way she feels about her daughter Rachel in the here and now. Currently, Jean and Rachel refer to each other as mother and daughter respectively and that can't be refuted

Yeah I wasn't saying they don't see each other as that now. At the time however it was quite the opposite and heartbreaking to see for Rachel. Personally I would love to see Jean and Rachel interact more on panel as mother daughter as I think all of us here would like but I don't think that's in the plans. Every time Jean needs help from someone telepathically or with TK she always turns to others. Much to the chagrin of all of us here.

Micabe, what does a storyline 30 years later have anything to do with Days of Future Present? What do these panels you have shown have anything to do with the panels from that 4 annual story from 1990 we are discussing? Because THAT was the conversation being had, that Jean when she first met Rachel pushed her away and refused to accept her. Which is canon stated and on-panel. This whole discussion was in relation to the new Phoenix omnibus which is coming out and covers many aspects of Rachel's time as Phoenix and Jean's return and dealing with what happened. Which in my opinion this storyline should be part of if they are going to include Excalibur #52. No one once said anything about their current relationship.
AND, lest you forget, that shortly after that great issue in Red we were given the cold and uncaring Jean to Rachel in the entire Extermination series leading to Jean being 'whatever' about Rachel still being a hound. They are great now but they have not always been. Which is something we all lament about because so many great stories could have been written about them but instead we got decades of angst and turmoil for no good reason.
So "Stop fighting it already, nuff said..." is a little off the mark an unwarranted no since no one is fighting anything, no?
Exactly. No one said ANYTHING about their current relationship, which is the best it has even been btw. It's like showing up for a Christmas party and complaining no one is celebrating Easter with you.

You are right no one said anything about their current relationship so I brought up X-Men Red #9. I apologize for being so gruff about the subject.

Thank you 'Ya know I could never figure out why some fans dislike Jean and Rachel's mother/daughter relationship so much but will swear by and ship the hell out of similar (See: Uncanny X-Men v1 #463) relationships like Nightcrawler of Earth-616 and Nocturne of Earth-58163 or Storm of Earth-616 and Kymera of Earth-13729?

Personally I want a closer on panel relationship between the two but I think we are in the minority there. I think the average X-Men fan would rather pretend Rachel didn't exist to be honest. I may be harsh there but she's a legacy character who has been around forever now and she just doesn't get the love.
She does now with her sudden and apparently mutual sexual attraction to Betsy.

Clan Askani, we ride at dawn!
Rachel has been revealed to be a legend of Otherworld, and the people have been waiting for her arrival. "Askani Mother, the Bright Lady of Flame." According to yesterday's article she will be working a "hard job" which makes me believe she'll be the stabilizer and protector of the timelines. If so I hope she decks out the Starlight Citadel. We shall see.
