We'll find out in little more than a day, but I had the sudden thought that the mystery villain in the next New Mutants arc might actually be Loki, in which case Dani and Rahne being the ones to accompany Illyana to Limbo takes on a lot more implications, given their ties to Asgard (and the fact that Dani just made a vow to prioritize helping Rahne find Tier).

While I understand Illyana's desire to be free of Limbo I don't think giving it to Maddie is good for the rest of the world or even Maddie.

For the record, I think the author is not only wrong about her, but mis-characterizes the battle prowess of both Beast and Nightcrawler, as well.

The author seems to be more focused on raw destructive power than skills, also every X-fan knows Jubilee is a walking mini nuke.

Yeah, they have a very surface level interpretation of a lot of powers. And like we discussed in pages past, I think the bigger reason Dani's not usually written using her powers has nothing to do with how useful or potent they are, and is simply because of how few writers have bothered trying to pin down what they even ARE, or how they work.

But yeah it seems like a clickbait article in general. No shade to Pixie, but if you're talking about drawbacks to Kurt's form of teleportation, how about the fact that Pixie has to recite a spell before she can use hers? Its not actually instantaneous and by the logic the author seems to be working off of here, that could easily be considered a big drawback to her teleportation's combat-effectiveness.

I'm gonna go over it to see if I think ANY of them is right.....

Beast: is super-strong.... Like pick up cars and throw them strong. But the author doesn't know that seemingly?
Nightcrawler is a teleporter who can reflexively port. Sure he has range limits, and the smell, but Kurt can and has dodged punches by TP.
Thunderbird.... ok this one might be nearly right... depending on which Thunderbird the author is talking about.... if the author even knows.
Mooonstar: yeah this author has no idea what Danielle can do, none at all.
Jubilee, um yeah, like the guy said, sparkles and fireworks are when Jubilee isn't really trying. Jubilee can and has leveled buildings.
Glob, um.... maybe? not sure. I'm thinking he's one of those characters who is more "looks weird" than being powerful.
Kylun, yeah, he's a guy who uses weapons for combat over innate powers.
Angel: The writer knows about the many power upgrades Angel has gotten over the years... and mentions... that they exist, but specifically talks about the original who had no power other than flight?
Beak again a character who looks weird over being powerful... by design.

Hard to believe, but Dani [and the New Mutants] are turning 40 this September, which marks the anniversary of Marvel Graphic Novel #4, where they first appeared.

Looks like Marvel's doing a special commemorative issue for the event, bringing back Bob McLeod [amongst others] to work on the issue. He was the original artist.

And she barely looks a day over 22!

I guess what I don't understand is... why Maddy? What incentive is there for Illyana to trust her in any capacity? I get that Krakoa is supposed to offer a clean slate, but I don't get Illyana's thought process here.

I wonder if this is setting up as a redemption story for Madelyne. Also not sure why Dani / Rahne were in the issue, other than for filler.

Look forward to Dani having a plot focused on her, instead of being relegated to being the omni-present leader / voice of reason / sounding board for the rest of the team.
