Lines are blurred as Eiko Hasigawa and Catwoman start playing too nice with one
another and each lets their guard down—and in a ruthless city like Gotham, you can't trust anyone but yourself to watch your back. And Catwoman should know better than to let an old flame get into her head again…that's her job.

One of the most acclaimed Black Label series ever reaches its conclusion! All of the
sacrifice—all of the broken bodies and shattered relationships—was leading up to
this: Selina Kyle standing in front of the Batcave, desperate to know the secrets
inside it, secrets once thought to have died with Batman. But you should never open doors you can't close—if opening them means swinging wide the gates of Hell!

That period of the Bronze Age is the moment that Catwoman’s modern formula of roguish but good hearted anti-hero was solidified… and I tend to think it’s alignment with her brief period as a more “serious” love interest at the time played into it. In order to really make her as a romance option work, she was turned away from a purely traditional death trap happy villainess to something more restrained…

…and I think that wound up quietly giving her an edge over Talia for the next two decades. It’s easier to see Batman falling for a less murderous villian.

(I have a private their that Talia’s recent re-emergence as a love interest after a decade in remission for that role might be indirectly tied to Batman cooling off on going after Jason as well.)
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

I do personally prefer Selina have a bit more of an edge or a criminal leaning to her rather than being a more straightforwardly heroic good guy or companion for Batman.

The sweet spot is a Catwoman who’s like “Imma steal that rich *******’s ****, no matter how much security he puts in front of it and how many of his fingers I have to break!” while Batman just sighs and thinks “That’s wrong, but understandable, and also hot…”

Well, I think of her as more of a natural kleptomaniac who can't help herself ...

This was my small problem with Brubaker's run, asides of a moment here and there she was too heroic.
