That’s basically the New 52 in a nutshell. Hopefully they address it. I wouldn’t mind alternating arcs one arc Wally next Barry and fix up the Iris situation. Especially if she remembers and he doesn’t. There is a good story there

I agree concerning Barry and Iris. They should just be allowed to be themselves. We've seen a glimpse of it in Voidsong and it was awesome. As for Ace, I disagree. I'd prefer him to be properly retconned info the family's past; anything that implies he is "out of place" is a disservice to the character and, long term, the franchise IMHO.


Daniel's origin depends on his and Iris' father being William, abusive alcoholic. Ace's introduction as we know, and him meeting Barry, relies on him never having met the West family at all. However, per Willianson, he was there alongside Wally when he met Barry for the first time and, per Adams, he grew up as a cousin in the West family and had a relationship with them. Now, if that's the case, the whole fake out about Rudy, not Daniel, being his father just doesn't work... The kid just has a bunch of pasts that don't for, and no past at all at the same time.

It makes no sense and makes the character still feel like an aberration rather than an organic part of the Flash family.

It's hard to find an elegant solution considering that Ace was retconned into a half century's worth of FLASH history and continuity. I have a similar concern about the Post-DARK CRISIS new "Golden Age" characters. Patching new characters into past eras wherein they did not originally appear is always going to be problematic.

I think it's workable. The Golden age characters worry me more. There was a time with barely any connection
between Flash, Max Mercury and Johnny Quick. I still think the main issue is Iris: she's the focal point of all the characters with contradicting histories, Wally, Ace,Daniel, the Tornado Twins, Bart. If we figure a way to tell her story, everything else can stem from there.

José Luis García-López is a seriously underrated artist!!!
He never seems to get the props he deserves.
His takes on the Justice League were THE go-to for DC marketing for decades (and rightly so).

It's because, regardless of how well he drew these characters, he never did any iconic runs with them. I recall an interview with Todd McFarlane where he expressed his feeling that it's vital for a comic artist to build up a solid body of work on a book or character. He became the Spider-Man guy and that essentially made his career, which he expanded from there. Now he can easily sell a VERY quick sketch of a Spidey head for $500.

I interviewed him in 2015 over cigarettes at a con, talked generalities for a while after. One of the kindest and most aproachable pros I've ever met.
