Also one of my biggest wishes for this book is that Ewing develops a dynamic between Cable and Vulcan that acknowledges that they are uncle and nephew to each other. One of my biggest gripes with how a lot of writers write Cable is how many shy away from showing any awareness of Cable's connection to his relatives beyond just Scott and Jean, because of how complicated or unconventional it is. Like, I don't need Gabe and Nathan to become best buds or have family game night together, lol, I just mean.....don't treat it as irrelevant or not worth mentioning, y'know? It should at least be acknowledged that they are not just some random other mutant to each other, they're literally family.

I don't need them to be close, just need them not treating each other like random strangers when they at least should have a lot of knowledge/awareness of each other that's informed by their respective dynamics with Scott, since it would frankly be weird if Scott never talked about his son to one of his brothers or one of his brothers to his son.

Edit: Also, y'know who might seem a random addition, but would make an interesting antagonist for whom it'd be in character to take an interest in the Arakkii and trying to develop relationships or partnerships with some for their own ends?

    Gideon.

He's an immortal mutant whose External essence is he's the mutant embodiment of Opportunity, AND he's a power duplicator who is known to and mistrusted by pretty much ALL the heavy-hitters on Krakoa, due to his history with them....

But now here's this planet full of powerful warrior mutants who respect strength and survival, the ability to endure. Its the perfect place for Gideon to try and make a name for himself, foster new connections, try and develop a new power base.....

Especially if it brought him into direct conflict with Sunspot, his old protégé who knows and mistrusts him more than just about anyone else, given that whole awkward thing where Gideon tried to groom him as a teen when he thought Berto was the new External he was sensing, and then y'know, literally created Berto's evil twin Reignfire once Sunspot saw him for what he is and said later loser.

I actually always really liked the dynamic between Gideon and Sunspot, first as the attempted Palpatine to the powerful teenager he wanted to be his next Sith apprentice or whatever, and then later as said teenager grows up to be a self-assured adult who's like lol wait actually on second thought, **** you and also die plz.

Agreed. Some acknowledgment of their familial connection would be great.

Truth to tell...as excited as I am for this book, I have zero expectations as to what I want and hope Ewing will provide and execute. As with SWORD, I'm fully prepared to take it as it comes and enjoy it for what it brings, leaving ample room to be pleasantly surprised.

Experience has shown that to do otherwise only leads to disappointment, misery, hatred and ultimately incessant whine and bitchery...none of which has any place in my 2022.

I remember crying and screaming about wanting Al Ewing to write Storm because he's good with applying science to certain powersets and now look. The goddess heard me!

This book sounds promising - - but, if Nathan's TP/TK/Techno-Organics haven't returned I think I'll save my money.

I could do without Cable, but other than him, the cast is stellar. I’m in!

Yeah, I am interested in seeing what, if anything, comes of the abandoned plans for Vulcan and Sunspot, in particular.

I am kind of over the 'some loud-mouthed Arraki yob we've never seen before talks smack to Storm and she effortlessly punks him' side-fights that were going on in SWORD 'tho. It was like, 'we interrupt this story for more random Storm *featz!* porn.'

I also agree with those who would like to see more of Manifold, Taki, Frenzy and Peepers, as well. Argh, this Age of Krakoa has too darn many characters I want to see! It's an embarrassment of riches!

Storm should let Cable fight some of these loud-mouthed Arakkis for her. He can handle her light work as he is an extremely capable fighter. Level 7 fighting ability and all.

I am ITCHING for Cable to get into this mix. My mind is racing and I feel like Qwerty, all f$%^'d up in my undees and writing all these potential happenings on the wall . As the book fleshes out the story I'd love to see:

    - Broken Magneto = Good Storm + Mags interaction to help him determine what he wants to do for his people with a council who is more aligned to his style of...fixing sh$%. I want to see him find his way by going to Phobos and giving Feilong and all the humans/tech there the beat down of their lives and kicking them off the moon (if not flat out killing them). Earning the respect of the Arakkii and taking a seat at Table of Night on The Great Ring.

    - Cable = Remains head of SWORD Station II but he is investigating wtf happened in SWORD #11. I want to see him find uncover Brand's deception and take her own/out, and becomes the head of SWORD. At the same time I want to see him leverage the T-O virus in a way that makes him a key player against Orchis + gives him a new look.

    - Storm = Remains Regent of Arakko/Voice of Sol System - Storm finds a new path/purpose for the mutants of Arakko, decides and manages the course of the planets role in the Sol System, and how it will be protected. I want her to choose who would join Magneto at the Table of Night, and to work with Cable to establish new galactic X-Force style teams on SWORD. I want a showdown with Orbis Stellaris. I think Ewing planted the seed that Orbis studied Storm and I think, whoever is in that orb, makes an interesting rogue for Storm. She's an experience diplomat and I'd like to see her use her own strategic thinking on how to leverage relations with the Shiar, Wakanda, etc. that would improve mutant relations and set the foundation for 'peaceful' co-existence

I haven't followed Sunspot in a long time to know if he'd be an ally to this cast or truly committed to his own desires, even if it made him an enemy. Interested to see what he adds to the mix.

Either way I am loving this creative team and am super excited for this book.

New interview with Al Ewing! https://www.cbr.com/marvel-al-ewing-...war-interview/

    Some highlights for me:
What intrigues me about Storm isn't really how powerful she is -- which is good news for fans of a powerful Storm, because I just treat that as a question that's been fully answered.
Favorite characters will be back: I have plans for Wiz-Kid to re-enter the narrative, Manifold and Frenzy have things to say in #2, and Cable is there from the start in #1.
I don't want to do any tie-ins that aren't a vital part of that line. Not even with my own books -- no plans for a Venom tie-in just yet. If there isn't a big X right in the middle of the event, we're not going to be part of it.
Jonathan [Hickman] mentioned a plot point he never had time to get around to -- as luck would have it, I'd just managed to work it into the X-Men: Red issue I was writing, so people who listen to good podcasts will have a sneaky spoiler of where Vulcan's head might be.
Also, two teams are formed. One of them is X-Men Red. And the other is...?
What excites me so much about this book is that Ewing has plans to do character work along with these galaxy sprawling plots. Love it when writers can find a balance between the two. Also despite having one of the better Reign of X books he seems open to constructive criticism and is looking to improve.
